Hi!
Friend of mine wants to put 883 pistons and jugs to his XL 1000 sporty.The question is: Do they fit? Waiting for reply

They all fit but why go through the labor and not go up to 1200 or 1250? PS on second thought the valves would be bigger but i think it would still work. Somebody might come along that's tried it before and knows for sure.

The only thing i'am sure about is that i'am wrong! Don't have the foggyest idea what i was thinking about. :frownthre :bump PS i guess i must of been thinking of using different liners and smaller pistons with the iron cylinders, but who knows? :smoke

the pre 72 sportys were 900cc , is that what you mean? if so , yes ya can do it , but why ?

I believe even though they were called a 900 actuall size was 883. :smoke

So you would be installing aluminum cylinders and cast iron heads. All with different mounting/attaching hardware. I think it would be impossible, except that with huge $$$$$$$$s you can do anything.

He ain't been back here since.

I guess Lukas O and his buddy gave up on the idea. :confused:

My friend just bough the bike and is out of money. Bike is not complete(missing pistons and jugs). I made 1200 conversion last winter so my old 883 pistons and cylinders are laying on the shelf in the garage. The idea was put them to friend's XL 1000. Thats why I was asking...

more work than its worth, hit the swap meets and you sould be able to find good used jugs and pistons dirt cheap
