2 boys, 10 and 8.

Bit off topic -> The 10 year old is a :censor Colts fan and the 8 year old is a Dolphins fan :frownthre. Wife is a Giants fan - therefore I can only conclude they get their questionable taste in football teams from their mother! :banana

Personally I prefer to practice the art of sex with my wife WITHOUT the worry of having children...

...but alas, she wants to have twin boys in 3 years... not sure how she is going to pull it off, but she tends to get what she wants so IF IT does happen that way, I'm gonna laugh.

All are smart and pretty....the middle girl (left) is my "mechanic helper"...she's also the most photogenic of the three...the youngest (right) is in the top of her class, and is destined for academic greatness...

The eldest, in her own words, is "most likely to be wanted in 7 countries"...

Then there's that look in their eyes when the run up to you and out of the blue say "Daddy I missed you while you were at work."

Or when they laugh hysterically at you while you're doing some silly face to cheer them up after they fell of their bike.

Or, when you're taking a nap and they come up and curl up next to you.

No kids. Four dogs that I train and compete with (we've got our national agility championships next weekend). Never really felt maternal for a baby, even though I love my animals and they are definitely our fur-kids. Hubby is happy with our DINK lifestyle. But lately I've been thinking about it... mostly just cause 40 is creeping up and I worry that I might regret not having kids later; but the more I think about it the more I can say that the desire to have a baby has never really been there for me. And as much as I know my parents would love to have grandkids; I don't think it is going to happen. Here's my fur-kids:14, 9, 7 & 4.

When I got home after two weeks, the smile on her little face made me feel special.
When I was laying down on the couch, she got up from her toys, came by, gave me a kiss and went back to her toys, that made me feel special too.
She finds a lot of ways to do that.
And I enjoy every one of those moments.

And we are planning on going back to the clinic sometime next year.

How old were you when you had your children?

I was 30 when the youngest was born.

Don't let my failed attempt at levity be taken as a statement that people shouldn't have kids later. It's just that I sometimes wish I had done it early. The first one was born when I was 27, and it was easier to be up all night with her. It would have been a slam-dunk when I was 22 and didn't have a "normal bed-time". :laugh

But, I love 'em all the same. I am able to do more for / with them now.

Heck, I work with a guy who had his first at 49. :banana That little guy has it made! His Daddy does things with him that I only got to do with my grandpa!

It is never too late.

Oh my!! You guys crack me up. Some say that 30 was old! Wow, I must be ancient at 39, LOL. Looking back I wish I had given children more thought when I was younger, the thoughts did not even enter my mind though.

I was too hung up with school and then career. I was a college student most of my younger years, and then the career took precedence over my marriage, big mistake. Not that I wish I was still married to my ex, just that I did not give my marriage all that I should have at the time.

I always learn everything the hard way!! Oh well, that is who I am.

One marriage (still goin':) ). Two kids, son-23 and daughter-20. I was 33 when my daughter was born. While I'm glad we had 8 years of "just the 2 of us", I'm also glad we didn't wait any longer. The downside of waiting is that now I'm ready for grandkids but my kids aren't ready (married) yet.:o

The downside of waiting too long (assuming fertility is still an option) is being old enough and tired enough to want to retire but still "raising" children. That's where my folks were. They were very relieved when I graduated, got a good job, and moved out. My dad retired 3 months later.:)

Holy crap, dude, I CANNOT IMAGINE the sorrow. Such a simple statement of pain and loss and I find myself moved to tears this morning.

Sorry to be such a downer, Its an everyday battle within yourself that I have been told never gets better, you just get better at hiding it.

Now on to the happier side of things.....this is my oldest.....

No children. Don't want any.

The current nanny state just makes me have no desire at all. I also don't have a rosy outlook on the future as the U.S. standard of living decreases to level out with the rest of the world due to globalization.

Pessimissm remains pessimissin whether or not you try to justify it with the facade of "realism."

The TRUTH is that nothing gets better unless people try to make it better.

To do nothing is to accept the pessimistic outlook.

One daughter, 11, growing up way too fast. Never wanted kids, don't know how I could live without her now. On weekends she gets to go to work with me, she loves to run the camera in the plane for me. Plus she thinks the whole flying thing is cool. She rides too, has two bikes of her own, one 100cc dirt bike and a 6 hp Fatboy styled mini-bike. Definetly the best thing to ever come into my life. But that said, boy she can really wear you out mentally at times. I know I wasn't as big of a pain in the ass growing up as she is at times. But my wife and I agree the reason we were not like this with our parents is because both of us came from broken homes and we just did not see our parents as much as Smurf sees us. We try to do as much with her as we possibly can, all her ball games and trips etc. She is my little Smurf Buddy.
The reason I call her Smurf? She popped out blue as a Smurf, in a little distress, told her mom she was a Smurf and it stuck. She loves it when I scream at the top of my lungs "Way to Go SMURF!!!!" at her volleyball games. NOT.

Are you talking to me???

I have had many pets, and I have been a mentor for a child that was in the system. I was a court appointed child care advocate and have donated many many hours of time to helping these youth.

Thank you, I couldn't even wish that pain on my worst enemy. It really ticks me off when I turn on the news and they talk about these parent who kill and or abuse their own children. Makes me wonder why god lets these so called "parents" breathe, but yet takes my little girl....truly tests your faith.

God, I couldn't agree more.

I've got 3 girls, 11 (stepdaughter), 2, and 11 months, and my boy would have been 4 yesterday (9/23/07). Brings tears to my eyes just writing this.

I'm jealous of you all. When I was young, I was way too unstable and out-of-control, and I just couldn't do that to a kid (or a wife). Later when I had something positive to give, I got married but my wife didn't want any more kids. Now that she's gone, I guess I'm too old.

I do have one 27 yr old step-daughter who I haven't seen since my wife died (she doesn't want to be reminded - I just make sure she can find me if she ever wants to).

I also have 8 nieces and nephews and I relish every holiday that I get to see them....

Parents, hug your kids and tell them how much they enrich your lives - every single day.

I just turned 36 on Saturday, my younger daughter turns 10 today, older daughter turns 15 this coming Saturday and my wifes birthday is this coming Sunday. It's a crazy week for us but usually turns out fairly well.

My first daughter was not planned but has been a blessing. My younger daughter was planned down to the day. She too has been a blessing as well as a life changer. We found out she has Cystic Fibrosis when she was 14 months old and she is doing very well - luckily.

I am like a big kid most of the time and would rather be having fun and not worry about lifes problems but sometimes those problems smack you upside the head.

I think the 'BABY THING" hit me again. My ex and his wife just had their second child, a baby girl about 3 weeks ago. I have spent a lot of time holding her since she was born, and watching how her older brother is so sweet to her.

There's no way I'm letting my ex wife hold my baby girl, my ex and I don't get along. I'll try to make a long story short:

When my girlfriend and I had the baby we asked that my ex wife, who happens to be a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital we delivered at, to not be at the hospital when we delivered. Well the hospital gave my ex wife the weekend off because we had the baby on the day my ex was supposed to work, well my ex got all pissed and just made the delivery a living hell, she said I owed her money because she didn't work and then she told our boys that she was being fired, and then she looked into my girlfriends medical files, which by the way is illegal and she could have been fired, I told the head of the labor dept. I didn't want my ex fired because my life would be even more of a living hell. And on numerous occasions she called my daughter a mistake, called my girlfriend a whore, told me to get a paternity test, b**ch needs more therapy than one can imagine. If she's having a sh*tty life than apparently I also have to. Sorry.

I have one daughter, aged 7. I was a late starter, never got married until I was 40 and my little angel came along a year or two after that. I had never wanted children, didn't fancy the responsibility of guiding them through life, as I've had enough problems looking after myself, let alone teaching an innocent young child how to deal with the world.
