Has there ever been a thread on what a "basic" tool set for our Sporties should contain? I'm not thinking too much of a travel kit, but just a normal home one...I've got a pot pourri tool box that takes care of my cars, bikes, and house...I'd like to dedicate a tool box to just my Sporty, but was wondering if any of you have already done that so I don't have to re-invent the wheel putting one together! I saw a couple of fairly decent travel kits when searching on the web, but I was curious if there was a basic set-up to start with...thanks! Mike

I know...us newbies always asking old questions! Patience, you experienced ones...we'll get there!

Plus with Xmas coming, I may have a chance to get a few items on the wish list! :D

3/8" drive torx bits..., 40, 45
Torx keys in 25 , 27 (for switchblocks)
allen keys with ball ends
basic open end and ring spanners.
oil filter remover.
circlip pliers ..internal and external and a very small external set for the circlips on the brake/clutch pins
cable lube
wd40 or similar
multimeter and a test light (old indicator works well)

I opted for a basic kit from http://www.beza.biz/windzone/catalog that had most of the tools at a decent price. If I understand you correctly and you already have many of the tools it might just be helpful to look at the following cycle tool kits for reference when putting together your own:

http://www.beza.biz/windzone/catalog/ek1hd (the one I own)
http://www.cruztools.com/H-D.html
http://www.eagleleatherworks.com/tools.html

Also, some good advice I've gotten is to try and only work from your tool kit as much as possible when wrenching on the bike. That's a quick way to find what you need and what you don't need and make sure you've got them along when you run into problems on the road.

Thanks Everyone!

That helped...looking at Stevo's list, I think I am in pretty good shape, but I am missing: 3/8" drive torx bits..., 40, 45 Torx keys in 25 , 27 (for switchblocks), and allen keys with ball ends...transitioning from too many years of metrics, I think! I appreciate the posts!
