ALANXL1200RRR 24th September 2007, 08:01 12 seconds average for most sporty's There are lots of threads talking about this if you use the search function mgalbreath 5th October 2007, 15:27 According to Zipper's (see: zippersperformance.com), an XL 1200 can do the .25 mile in 11 seconds after installation of one of the Hammer kits. I'll let you know...my 07 XL 1200C is at Zipper's right now getting the Super-Hammer kit. I should have it back in about 2 weeks. imwired 29th December 2007, 08:23 Back in 2001 I was running a 1200 with cnc ported 883 heads on the track. 91 hp, 89 tq. 11.1sec 119mph. Hanging on tight with forward controls and a wheelie bar. No air shifter. Kev M 29th December 2007, 17:05 12 seconds average for most sporty's 12 seconds MIGHT be average for well ridden stage 1s, but the magazines clearly put late-model 1200s in the mid-to-high 13s. 883s in the 14s. Kev TrueAmerican 30th December 2007, 15:48 Kev hit it dead on. I've seen well ridden stage 1 1200s that had a hard time breaking into the 12s. Their alot of fun on the dragstrip but their not superbikes! Kev OMG...I am actually agreeing with Kev. I saw 13.7 for a 1200 and about a second slower for an 883. In fact I beat a Geo Metro in a drag race and was pretty proud! <<<<<<<Sarcasm. TnG 1st January 2008, 01:33 What it is possible, or what an average rider on an average day on an average track will accomplish are two different things. There are many variables, but it sounds like if you can break into the 12's your doing pretty good. Not certain what top speed would be but you should easily hit 120+ on a 1200. TrueAmerican 1st January 2008, 05:45 High 12s, low 13s = @ 100 mph +- 5 in the 1/4. I run mid to low 11s and my 1/4 mile on my little 1200cc machine, MPH is @115. I'm guessing that my all out top speed would be well north of 130 since I'm barely in 5th gear at the 1/4 mile. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t133/sportster121/0606_2367_jpg.jpg Sleeper 1st January 2008, 05:57 Back in 2001 I was running a 1200 with cnc ported 883 heads on the track. 91 hp, 89 tq. 11.1sec 119mph. Has HSR42, Arlen Ness a/c and Gronk mod mufflers. Everthing else is std 1200R 05. imwired 2nd January 2008, 06:25 Damn that's fast. How much do you weigh? About 170 lbs. The wheelie bar is good for a bit on your launch. That was my fastest run on that bike. 11.3 sec was very common. Surprised a lot of sport bike guys with that little Sporty. She definately earned respect. Too bad I sold it to a guy that shipped it to Korea.... I'd like to have that one back. :doh Sleeper 2nd January 2008, 16:14 About 170 lbs. The guages and signals were stripped and the belt drive was swapped out for chain. The bike was quick. I give a lot of credit to R&R Cycles. Every bike that I've used their cylinder heads on has been so much fun to ride. They rev quick and pull hard. They don't always make the big dyno numbers but the dyno doesn't always win on the street. After riding that bike at the track for a couple years, I bought a Kawasaki ZRX1200. First time at the track, pulled a 10.6. Sold that and rode a GSXR1000 for a while. Took it to the track one time and ran 10.1 in stock form. The lesson learned---- You can spend $4500 on the motor in your $7000 bike and run pretty quick or you can spend $6000 on a used Suzuki and fly.---- I'm back to spending big money on motors to run kinda quick.... It's more fun this way. Sleeper 2nd January 2008, 17:23 Nothing out of the norm. The guages and signals were stripped and the belt drive was swapped out for chain. The bike was quick. It's more fun this way. Well it's pretty obvious you have excellent racing skills. If you ran any faster on any of those bikes you'd be breaking the laws of physics. What mods did the ZRX have? I ride my son's ZX-10 from time to time. It's blazingly fast especially above 100 mph, but I perfer to ride a built Sportster myself. Narley 2nd January 2008, 22:01 I have a buddy pulled mid 9's on a gsxr1000 just piped ,mapped and dog boned!!! It had Pods, Ivan's jet kit, full muzzy pipe, clip-on bars, different rearsets, the list goes on and on.... Lost the entire thing in a house fire. Burned it to the frame. Got hot enough to melt the aluminum. The GSXR felt like the hand of God was pushing on your back. We used to call it the "dial of speed". Turn your wrist and tell it how fast you wanted to go, but I agree with you. I would rather ride my HD's. I'll have a better chance of living if I'm not tearing up a country road at 170+ Narley 3rd January 2008, 06:35 Your comment about money spent is so true. That gixxer was about half what I have spent on motor mods.....and my old 1984 gs1150 was only $800 and pulled mid elevens....HA. But the kicker....the wife will not come watch when I race anything other than my Harley. Sleeper 3rd January 2008, 17:32 Your comment about money spent is so true. I don't know about you but racing a Harley is more fun to me than the jap bikes too. jag1200r 8th July 2008, 05:23 I saw one website that claimed a 06 1200r would do the quarter in 13.1@100.7.... It must have a lot to do with how much the rider weighs, how much gas in the tank, what track, the skill of the rider, and if the bike was made on a Friday at 5.. Any thoughts?? jag1200r 8th July 2008, 05:24 Damn. Sorry that was intended for a different post.. What happened 07xl1200r 26th July 2008, 21:28 my best so far is a 13.25@99 mph but i'm 230lbs and admitidly not the best bike rider in the world but i'm gonna keep trying, i'd love to get into the 12's, kinda sad but i've got an 04 ram srt-10 and its faster than the bike, runs 12.68(on slicks) |
