View Full Version : 883-1200 T-Storm Conv. Question biggdann 16th December 2004, 07:00 Anyone know how this setup might work? T-Storm heads, domed pistons, and my stock 883 cams. Thks. Dan baddog32 27th December 2004, 12:11 Dan, I used that set-up for mine and its worked out good. I went with stage 1 Nallin T-storms, their hurricane domed pistons and my stock 883 cams. My one and only dyno showed 76hp and 72 ftlb, very flat torque curve across the entire rpm range. I did experience pinging with this setup. Using the advice of forum members and others, I adjusted the VOES and retarded the timing. This has worked out great. The bike is blast to ride. I know that I could have gotten more top end out of hotter cams but I decided it would not fit my style of riding. I don't have to rev up or downshift this thing at all. I twist the wrist at lower rpms and it takes off instantly. Hope this helps BD twinsporty 27th December 2004, 13:56 I Second that opinio. I went with the T-storm heads, Wiseco K1700 pistons and 1200 cylinders with stock cams and it is fun to ride (granted I haven't got much seat time on the conversion). I will mention that the new XB heads are better than the T-storm, so if you can swing it and pick up a set (Nallins has them) then you should get a little better numbers if you want. biggdann 30th December 2004, 16:33 Thanks for your replies. I also wanted to know if you had to change your ignitions? And if so which ones did you use? Thks....Dan baddog32 31st December 2004, 11:30 Dan, I did change my ignition to the SE 6800 rev limit module. Based on what I read, its apparently best to go with a 1200 module due to the difference in curves. However, I originally ran it on the 883 module for awhile during break-in and had no problems. Whether or not the 1200 module provides superior performance beyond what you get from a higher rev limit, I'm not educated enough on the subject to say. I'm sure there are plenty of guys on this forum who are. BD twinsporty 31st December 2004, 13:39 Hey Dan, I didn't change my ignition based on my usually riddin style. I don't need to run it high up in trhe rpm range I just wanted more umph so I had no need to change. It really depends on what you want when your done with the conversion. |
