I have tried a couple of searches to answer this question, and my Clymer manual only has black and white diagrams that are too small to read the wire colors.

I am trying to hook up a new to me Cycle Electric generator with the attached regulator. I understand the "B" goes to the battery, and the "L" goes to the warning light.

My old Hitachi generator used a separate regulator mounted at the the front of the frame, except it uses a special connector for the red, green , and tan wires.

I believe that I need to remove the connector so I am left with a red and tan wire which I then connect per the Cycle Electric directions.

Just need some confirmation... I really don't want to fry this generator! Additionally, how should I polarize it since the regulator is already attached?

Sales information states that the cycle electric doesn't need polarizing.

The wire for the light is grounded to turn on the light, (from literature, not experience) So grounding it is a decent test.

Would say you have it right.

I like that generator, it's what I'm running on the 77, only issue I have is that the terminals are too 'open' and need a good protective cover. (dropped keys while preparing for test run, spark city.)

My bike has been sitting in the garage all summer, so I wanted to double check. I saw what Cycle Electric said about polarizing, but I did buy it used, and Clymer says to do it every time too.

Got it running, and it is running well now. Thanks for confirming it.

I'm assuming you have red going to B and tan to L?

Yep. I just did not have a good way to look at the wires, and I did not want to make a mistake.
