The habs have to spread it out. Philly is to big physicaly to close quarter.
Fore check yes but spread it out.

And the good lord told me, if we can't clear the crease we be fucckked.

Hopefully, Montreal is just setting the Flyers up
for a fall... a very big fall. :clap
It's been a weird playoff season,
anything can and has happened.

For Montreal, 6 periods without a goal... holy crap !!! :(
Flyers have won their last 6 games. :wonderlan

I've just about quit following the playoffs now.
Ever since the canucks fell from grace with that pitiful effort in game 6 vs Chicago I feel like I'm never going to watch another hockey game for the rest of my life. Stupid, stupid hockey! I hate it. I HATE IT! it's the stupidest game in the world.
Put the rubber thing into the string thing and become a multimillionaire. Now, HOW HARD CAN IT BE??
I HATE STUPID HOCKEY!

Well the series is not looking good for the Habs. I mean 2, count em 2, shutouts:clap. Not taking anything away from the Habs, they are a tough team, as shown in thier 1st 2 rounds beating the Cap and Pens. Gonna go down to the wire I think. Danny B is becoming a effing scoring monster and Gagne is back to form. Looks like Ian LP might make a timely comeback and Richards is skating again.:smoke

Maniac72
19th May 2010, 16:16
It's the Stanley Cup Playoffs man, anything can happen. I guess it proves that the no 1-6 seeds in the East did not come hard enough. The playoffs are full of reel worthy plays and saves. The attn is because the 7-8 teams beat the defending champs and the two teams with the best record in the East, not to mention one of them was the best in the LEAGUE. Gotta say sumthin.

Game 1 was a really fun game to watch and was much more of an even battle. Niemi made the difference in the first game and stopped some pretty great shots. Game 2 was a letdown. The Sharks forgot that they were playing playoff hockey and really blew it. As a fan in the stands, it was a hard game to watch.

This is from game 2;

Thanks and no problem. I only hope I get to take some more... lol

Amazingly enough they were taken with a $300 Fujifilm S2000HD from the nosebleeds at the Shark Tank. It has a nice 15x zoom.

I tried to get pictures from before the puck drop. The folks at the Tank, use the ice as a big screen and project an ocean scene on the ice with sharks swimming around. It really does look pretty cool in person, but none of the pictures came out too good.

Funny how you pick a hockey thread and throw in a ISO audit. I go thru them all the time.

SOOO, how many MAJORS and MINORS did you get in the audit?:buddies:buddies:boxing:spank:roflblack:

lol!

6 minors.

Pretty good considering our only QA guy quit 3 days before the audit and I had to pickup his duties (I am NOT a QA person). Plus this was not an official ISO audit, but a customer audit. They are a medical device company and use ISO 9001 and 13485 (think that is it).

Back on topic: Pretty sad about the sweep. This is only the second time the Sharks have made it this far in the playoffs. Still pretty happy with the season. Now I have to deal with the SO's hockey withdrawals...

If I had to pick a team based on performance in the playoff's, Chicago is looking like they will take it in 6.

The NHL has announced the awarding of the Stanley Cup to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Since the Broad St Bullies don't deserve to be in the finals anyway;and Bettman can't give the Cup to cindy again, the finals have been cancelled.
Damn... and I was gonna watch my very first hockey game to root for Chicago!;)

I loved Richards goal, very typical of him, dig for the puck and throw it at the net.

I also thought that Leighton played another outstanding game, really really good rebound control.

They are not Boston! Come on just think about this, they came into this series with something like 7 or 8 straight wins. Seven straight wins on the road alone. Do you really think that they could of continued that winning streak?

And let's not forget that at the beginning of the season the Flyers were one of the teams picked to win the Cup. Why the hell did they change coaches mid season....... because they weren't playing like the should be. They are playing great now.

Not to sound like an advertisement or anything, but I have to mention the NHL Game Center Live. This is not the same as the Center Ice package available through the cable and satellite companies.

Where I live the nhl network or Center Ice are not offered by my cable company (I live in the mountains and it has to do with a pricing deal between the county and Comcast)..

What to do when you absolutely HAVE to watch Hockey? Subscribe to Game Center Live! This allows you to watch hockey on your computer anywhere in the world. The pricing is $160 for the season and includes most of the playoff games as well.

My SO is an absolute Hockey Betty. During Hockey season she has a game on the TV and a game on the computer. I had to buy her a laptop last year just so she could watch hockey.

https://gamecenter.nhl.com/nhlgc/secure/gclsignup?CMPID=GCL:vnty

Well I'm a Junior Hockey fan and my team the Kitchener Rangers are set up for a Memorial Cup run, however it looks like both Jeff Skinner (Carolina) and Jeremy Morin (Chicago) might stick with the big club.

Their respective clubs can play them in 9 regular season games before being committed to their contracts. We shall see.

To further complicate things, Morin could be sent to the AHL and not back to Junior as he wasn't playing Junior when he was drafted.

Good for both of them though

I know I am late, but the Sharks VS Kings game Monday was quite fun. Lots of Kings fans in attendance and as usual talking shit. Before each game we razz the other team (Hey (insert current team here), YOU SUCK!), and a couple of Kings fan got upset and started hassling several of us. We played it off in good fun, but they would not let up. One little girl, had to be all of 12 or 13, yelled at one guy to shut up and watch the game and let the players show who sucks. They did. Those fans left early and got chided all the way down the stairs (yes I sit in the nosebleeds).

All in all a fun game despite the typically rude Kings fans.

I know the Islanders won 9-3 in one game and there were a lot of fights.

Speaking of the Islanders. Just to let you know how bad ticket sales are with them, at one of the Islander retail stores in a mall here, if you spent $100 dollars you get two free tickets. I bought my son a sweatshirt and shirt for a little over $100 and we got two 2nd row seats from the ice in the corner for a game against Ottawa a couple of weeks ago. Not bad. They were the best seats I've ever had for a hockey game.

BTW, I'm a Ranger fan but it's more convenient in terms of travel time and a heck of a lot cheaper to go to an Islander game.

It was a slug fest indeed. I like this :
When all was said and done 65 total penalties were awarded totaling a massive 346 minutes. It was reported that a fence was put up between both teams locker rooms before the end of the game to separate the two teams.

213 penalty minutes in the 3rd period alone.

The SO's granny lives spitting distance from the arena and last year went to half the home games. She is 89. They sent her free tickets this year and she thought it was a scam. She contacted the arena and they told her "no it is not a scam, we miss you". She gets escorted from the door to her seat. Maybe because she looks so frail and they are afraid she might get hurt.

LOL!

I get shit from her because I am a Devils fan. Man that old lady can talk some smack.

Did you guys know it is Hockey Weekend in America (http://www.usahockey.com/hwaa/default.aspx)? Today is wear your favorite Jersey day and I am proudly representing the first team I ever saw live: The Colorado Rockies, with my #5 Beck sweater (being a Ranger fan Bob, you should know that name...).

In the Islander Ottawa game, after the end of either the first or second period as the teams were leaving the ice, Ottawa's goalie hit one of the Islanders and fights ensued. The one thing about it that I had never seen before were players that had already left the ice, came back out onto the ice to fight.

Agreed!

Every point counts now. Vancouver has pretty much walked away with the western conference and Detroit, well they could end up closer to the bottom, but doubtful. 3rd through 8th is pretty much up for grabs. The Sharks know they can lose it in a game or 2 so last nights game against the Capitols was pretty hard fought. I loved how Ovechkin was all over Murray, cross checking him and trying to get under his skin. Talk about playing with fire... Murray just laughed at him.

Do you think the Kings will make any trades before the deadline? I know the Sharks are looking for D-men and got White from Carolina for a draft pick. Not sure how good he is though. Time will tell. Rumor has it the Sharks are looking to trade Mitchell and Pavelski. I hope the later is just a rumor.

Way back when Cam Neeley was making a comeback, he scored 50 in 44 games. The highlight reel was AMAZING!, when they replayed them all together.

The Habs on this trade deadline day traded an American league defenseman for an American league goaltender.

Meanwhile, in the past couple weeks, Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh all got better and the Habs stay stagnant.

They're good enough to get a round, maybe 2 if Price feels like it but they are still middle of the pack.

wtf, i ignore the laughable leafs for a while, and then decide to watch a game for a change and see not only did they beat the Flyers in the Flyers yard, but have a shot at the post season.

I would love to see leafs and habs in the first round

I watched the Leafs vs Flyers game last night before the Sharks vs Detroit game. Fun to watch. The 'Leafs game the previous night was also fun to watch. I loved Wilson's reaction when they won. When he was the coach in SJ I don't think I ever saw him get that excited.

The Sharks vs Detroit game last night was a blast! I have completely lost my voice from cheering last night. It was odd seeing almost 1/3 of the arena in Red Wings jerseys. The fans put on a showing for sure. The second Heatley goal quieted them down and made the SJ fans that much louder. It was like being at a playoff game.

I'll say that is highly unlikely. Toronto can get to 8th, maybe 7th. That would mean that Mtl needs to get to 1st, not gonna happen or 2nd, I doubt it.
I think the best the Habs can do is 4th, but then the Leafs would need 5th and that's not going to happen.

Maybe in the 2nd round.

Thank you again to all who annointed the O&B to win the grail this year, once again the death knell.
Ok a little melodramatic but I am not looking fwrd to another 8-14 March like last year.
After all its just 4 in a row...and 7 goal shutout to nyr...loss to last place team...ok I am a little anxious, and not in a good way.

I hope Max is ok, it didn't look like an intentional head shot to me from watching the replay, interference penalty for sure.

A standard Hockey rub out along the boards, If the Montreal player had the puck no penalty would have been assessed.

I hate to see this stuff, and I think Chara should be suspended because he made an illegal check that injured another player

Agreed.

A little bad blood carrying over from the game when Max shoved Chara after Max won the game in OT...

1- He is not. Broke a vertebrae and severe concussion. But that's OK because...

2- Chara's hit was perfectly legal as there is NO suspension and NO fine.

I think the NHL is waiting for somebody to actually die on the ice before doing something about dangerous hits.

I am actually surprised by #2. The NHL had a chance to do something about that hit since it was a late hit and he got a game misconduct.

BTW: Wasn't yesterday the anniversary of the hit Berfloozie put on Moore to end his career (and nearly his life)?

Agreed. But are you telling me that Chara didnt know where he was on the ice? If he did know, and he should have, then that body check became a dangerous hit.

Let's say that I'm chopping wood, swinging my axe, splitting logs and you're standing out of the way, next to me. That's perfectly fine and dandy. But if for whatever reason you put your hand on the top of that log and I still swing that axe...then what? Can I now say that 30 seconds before everything was fine and dandy and get away with it?

And my other beef is with the League's inconsistency. They give out punishments just like NASCAR does, whatever they feel like that day. There is not much logic (that we, "normal" people can see) behind their thinking.

During the game, full speed from camera angle 1, I thought Max was headed that way and just got a bit extra to cause the awful collision. It looked like Chara, just gave him a bit extra to cause it.

Now I have seen it a bunch of times it kind of looks like he gave him even more than I initially observed. They have all played enough games to know the stanchion is there. Chara probably intended to push him there, but there was no time to think about shoving him head first. At game speed it was fast, but he has to know to pull up - just like hitting from behind head first into the boards. I would have sat him for minimum of 7 days which is 3 - 4 games.

That is a dangerous protrusion and should not be there or be very heavily padded with something like Nascar's air fence. A bit of foam padding is not enough. I think the far ends past the benches should be the same way. It's not like someone totally overlooked it when the place was built. Maybe the time has come to put full length glass, and do away with hopping over the boards? Let's evolve the game for the safety of the players.

Coincidentally, we are going to see the Bruins tomorrow night. I watch A Lot of Bruins games. Zdeno Chara has plenty of opportunities to cheap shot people, and it just doesn't happen. The big guy hardly ever gets a fighting major. When he says there wasn't intent to injure, I believe him.

The problem is the NHL saying something and doing something else. Same the NHLPA, bunch of talk about "respect" but then punching themselves in the back of the head.

thats why there are nets everywhere now. BTW, they did wait till someone died to install those.

slide and block shots, those guys now wear more armor that medieval knights at a jousting match.

what Im saying is this, if the league wants them to play old time hockey like in eddie Shore's days, Im fine with that. Lets do it.
but stop the safety BS and letting guys break someone's neck and no consequences.
