I'm in the planning stages of converting my sporty to a chopper with a 250 wide tire. My question is does anyone know where I can get some really nice custom exhaust pre-measured for sportsters with forward controls? Specifically, I'm interested in short stacks, preferably with baffles. I would rather have nice bolt-on exhaust that I don't have to extend around the new wide tire swing arm and I like the look of the short stacks. Thanks.

Are you going to try and stuff a 250 tire on that stock
sportster frame?
When i was at the Myrtle Beach fall
rally i saw a guy with late model sportster with the
250 under it and it looked sweet, but for what it cost
you can get a whole new rolling frame and build it
from the ground up. :thinkbeer :drinkbeer :cheers :chtwo :drinkup

xllent01 - Yah, I'm buying the wide tire kit from prostreetcustoms. I checked into rolling frames but didn't find anything cheaper. If you have some in mind for me to check out, let me know. Thanks.
Thanks for the info txsporty. I'll have a look into pipedreams.

I checked out pipedreamz. They did have nice sportster pipes, and that is similar to what I'm looking for except that all of those pipes run back beyond the start of the swingarm. I'm hoping I can find a nice set that are shorter. Thanks.

I saw these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35573&item=4511781147&rd=1 they might work. If they don't have baffles go here http://www.bigcitythunder.com/ I heard these work pretty good.

I agree. The only problem with this suggestion is that it is very difficult to title and insure a custom bike

I agree. The only problem with this suggestion is that it is very difficult to title and insure a custom bike
title and insurance vary from state to state, alot of custom bike
builders will stamp vin # in the neck so vin # and title # will
match when you take it to dmv to title bike. People like
http://www.redneckengineering.com sell custom
bikes all day long, and people in the Carolinas have no
problem getting them titled and insured. When you see
a Redneck Rocket running down the road believe me you
will look twice. MY DREAM BIKE
As far as the sporty 250 tire going on the sportster the insurance
company may certainly frown :yikes on the modification. If
you only have liability and no comp on your policy what the
hell would they care about a 250 tire mod anyways.

Thanks for info Jag1. I had a look at those pipes. They do look nice but I forgot to mention that with the 250 there will also be a new wider sprocket for the belt and those pipes won't clear that either. I decided to give the PipeDreamz guys a call and I found out that they do hand make wide tire version of one of their pipes which will clear my swingarm and the sprocket. So I think I will go with them afterall. BTW - the owner is a really nice guy. He really appreciated the reference to his products from this forum.
The pipes from PipeDreamz also don't come with baffles but instead they use torque cones to provide backpressure. Anyone used torque cones before?
As for the insurance on my bike with the 250, most of the Ontario (Canada) Insurance companies frown on any mods to bikes. I'll be switching to a broker that specializes in custom bikes so I won't have any problems. I already explained what I want to do ahead of time and he will cover me with the exact same rates that I'm playing now unmodified.
Regardless of VIN problems, its still cheaper for me to modified my existing frame instead of using one from say Redneck Engineering.

they have a pipe that might work also. Another one for
pipes maybehttp://www.exoticchoppers.com
they custom bent pipes like pipedreams but i don't
know how they compare in price. :chop

I had a look at Bassani and exotic pipes. Thanks for the link xllent01. They're are a bit pricey. So far PipeDreamz is the best price.
