The next one is in the design stage. Dropped off my idea a couple weeks back and he's working on it. But that one is going to cost some serious duckets, even with the break he gives me.

I have my daughters name on my chest, but it is just hand written letters, and a tribal sun in the middle of my shoulders (below the neck lineof course...I am thinking of gettting another one inhonor of myPlt in Iraq this last time. A couple ofthe guys already have different versions of "grizzly" tattoed on them. I am going back again wiht a different Plt inJanuary though, and will most likely go again after that theway things are going, so I amkinda holding off.

This tells a story. It started out as a Grateful Dead Dancing Bear Riding a Harley... (back when I got it in 93 or 94)...then when I got back from riding Route 66 with the HOG national tour in 96 I added to it... the Route 66 sign and the buzzard


This one's on my leg. It's the Tora No Maki (Tiger in a Roll, or Master Scroll/Text). It is the artwork on the cover of Gichin Funakoshi's textbook on Shotokan Karate (they style I've trained in the most since I was a kid, and the style I still train in/teach today... actually, I'm leaving for a training in a few minutes). I always promised myself that I'd get one, I mean, like when I was 13... I didn't get around to it until 1998...

I have a similar tattoo on my back.
I hunt bear in Northern Maine with a .44 Mag Ruger and my life long hunting partner (who lives in Maine) carries a Ruger .45LC
So I got a pic of each some years back and redrew them crossed like an X.
The Tattoo guy put that pic on my back and on my pal's arm. Then he ripped up the drawing.
Very similiar to other logos but an original and meaningful tat for sure.

My other Tats are:
A flying eagle on my back
a tiger's head on left arm
a Harley shield on left arm
a dragon on right arm
a deer's head on chest
(coming)--a bear's head on chest

I have to agree with Gotwa, My tattoo is based on a couple of MC Esher woodblock prints. One from early in his career, and the last woodblock he did before he passed away. I combined the two together into a workable tat that my tattoo artist could work with. The overall tat is 3 interwoven snakes in a circle. The background of which is a chainmail mesh of ever smaller rings toward the center. Where the rings got to small for the tattoo artist, we overlayed a black oak tree in the center that Esher did as a young man. This tattoo was done in about 10 inches across my left shoulder blade.

My wife has two large tats one on each shoulder blade. The first is a Saddle Bred horse taken from a wonderful watercolor painting. The second is an English Setter on point in the tall grass. Both are very realistic in their rendering. I feel the need for more ink, but I just havent settled on any new ideas that really hit me yet.

This was my first tattoo ... its my own design. ;)

Right shoulder blade a Scorpion with Scorpio underneath. the lower head has a fish tattooed for girls that don't eat meat on fridays - that was a hell-of-a-night in Hong Kong about 35 years ago. I like to keep mine simple. Originally I was supposed to have USMC with a bulldog underneath. However on the way I drank the bulldog money so all I got was the USMC. (Back then you could get a tattoo drunk)

Anyway, this pick isn't me, but I have the same USMC part, I think I'm going to get this bulldog to finally finish it off. For me it's perfect.

Of course I'll leave off the 0311 part though, I was a 6521.

I go back to finish the one on my left arm at the end of this month (he also wants to "brighten" my first one since he's not happy with the colors - I'm fine with it, but I figured if the artist wasn't happy, I should let him do what he wants - he's not charging me for the touch up), and will start my third one, which will be a Phoenix on my right calf. The first two I brought him the image I wanted. This third one I'm going to let the artist design (same guy for all three) because he's doing one for my husband that he designed and it is awesome.

This is my first. It is a tribal sun that I use to "light my way". The next one will be coming shortly. I am just waiting for my cousin to finish the design. It is going to be a maltese cross in tribal with flames coming up off of it. I'll post it when i get it.

Hey Jason, if you like Celtic designs check out this website. www.luckyfish.com. Her name is Pat Fish and she does the best Celtic tattoos I've seen. She's in Santa Barbara. Lots of good designs and ideas on her site.

I am just starting out, so not much here yet. I want to get a lot more done. The truck and flag was my first, and I was not too impressed with the artists. I wish I would have researched more before having him do it. The two scrolls with my kids names on this, I think turned out great. The girl that did it is one of the best out there, in my opinion. I have one more blue scroll to add when my 3rd kid is born in October. After that I am going to have a background put it.

I am currently on day four of my first-ever tat... as of this morning, it started peeling a little bit, and I am somewhat concerned about what it will look like in a week... I'll just let it heal up and go for touch-ups in a couple weeks if needed.

Anyway. I have a 2005 XL 1200 Custom - Black of course. Now, I know that this side is pro-Sporty and that is why I want to ask the question.

I want to upgrade to the new 2007 Softail with the 1584cc motor and the six speed gearbox. It also comes standard with the 200mm rear tyre and new custom all in one seat. I am six feet two inches and weigh in at 105 kg. I feel the sport is a bit small and that I could get better performance, two-up, on the softail. Good/bad decision?

In Philly, I recommend THESE GUYS (http://www.myspace.com/oldecitytattoo). Anyone in the shop is fantastic from the pieces I've seen. I've only had work done by Jason Goldberg, though. He did the turkey tattoo, which is unfinished. Once it's done, I'll post a pic.

Most of my tattoos were done HERE (http://www.myspace.com/scrantonmarcs). Chris Jones (Jonesy) and I.J. Hosey (I.J.) are 2 of my best friends and 2 of the most talented tattoo artists I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.


If you're not from either area (Scranton, PA - Northeastern PA or Philly), it's definitely worth the trip to get tattooed at either place!

So just a wild guess, you were stationed in Japan? I spent three years in Yokosuka on the Midway (Fire Control Tech, CIWS). I didn't get any gang tattoos while I was there like you did. :laugh

No,I was stationed in Pearl Harbor on the USS Robert E.Peary FF1073,My ex was born and raised in Hawaii,Her parents came to Hawaii from Shibuya I think.I remember the MIDWAY,The first time i ever saw an aircraft carrier! that was in the sea of Japan,Too big for me,I'll take a 'Tin Can' anyday lol.I never did get tats in Japan,I got mine in Australia,Singapore,Hawaii,Phillipines,And then i got transferred to the Atlantic Fleet I HATED the Atlantic fleet.I got tats in Crete,Italy and spain.I dont have any 'GANG' tats,But i think thats what the troopers thought they were looking at lol! never been a part of any gang,Unless you consider the engineroom guys a 'GANG' or at times with the way my kids getting at each others necks you could say i feel like i'm in a gang.

Mine is a scorpion that I got from the net as a basic picture then redisigned for myself. Got my Tattooist to draw it better for me and now its on me arm.

I had changed the angle and direction of the Scorpion and postion and height of the tail and then had my Tat artist have the stinger stick me in my arm

my son who is a good artist is drawing me one of my motorcycle accident two years ago, torso and head of a skeleton with a fractured skull, broken collar bone, broken ribs and hand with a interstate 95 sign in the background. My wife hates the idea but a good reminder to be safe.
I'll post a pic when it's done.

I got part of this about 4 years ago, then I added to it about 3 months ago. Didn't turn out too shabby. It was all free-hand drawn on me, then the guy just started in on it.

The fella with the Dragon is my handsome husband, Mike. That dragon was also free-handed on his arm by the same guy right after mine was done.
