Hey groovy guys and gals, in a couple of days I will be leaving NJ for
good. Heading out west where men are men and bighorn sheep are scared...

If you find yourself near Dubois Wyoming look me up.

Thanks everyone.

I've been spending a lot of time in Dubois for the last 16 years and I bought
a place there about 6 years ago. Check out my progress on my new house here.

http://picasaweb.google.com/decman.sporty/Tear_down#

I already have my riding buddies and my favorite watering hole so I'm set.
What I'm looking forward to the most?

The scenery
Taxes of $500 instead of $7,200
Close to a lot of great roads.
Rustic Pine Tavern
Knowing just about everyone in the town.
Changing the population sign to read 962 + 1
Women on horses (bikes too)
No east coast drivers...

The wind, yup if it stops you know your either dead or inside....
The altitude (7,000 ft) doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Hey the only reason I'm moving is to get that fancy smancy award for longest ride at the East Coast Rally.:tour
Wait we don't have an award... :doh

One thing I will miss in the NJ, PA, MD, NY riders I've met through the years.

Good luck DEC. we'll be missing ya at the annual events, (Unless you're planning on coming cross country)

"Oh I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle ...
As I go ridin' merrily along
And they sing, 'Away, too glad, you're single'
And that song ain't so very far from wrong"

Happy trails, podner!

Enjoy Decman. Wish I could move out that way, but the wife would go into shock if there were no buildings taller than 3 stories.

decman
6th September 2010, 18:57
Yup, only 2 stories in our town.
At 7,000 feet why do you need 3 stories? :p

The house looks great! Have you experienced a WY winter yet?

decman
7th September 2010, 08:57
Kris,

Thanks!
Yes I've been out there in the winter a few times. Cold but not that
much snow, East side of the range. The snow gets dumped in
Jackson and the pass before it gets to us.

Cold is OK, I've got plenty of insulation. The house and me. :p

Congrats on the new home and best of luck on the Move. Escaping NJ is not easy and in reading this thread I see you are not alone. I myself am looking at Northern VA never laughed so hard when the realtor told me how much the taxes were.

Life is short enjoy every momment...

Ride Safe and it was a pleasure to meet you last year.

All these folks wanting to leave the great state of NJ. Why:dunno ?
What else would all you folks want to spend all your hard earned cash on besides taxes?:smoke

I too would like to make a move out of here but right now family and job are preventing that from happening. Maybe someday???

Good luck with the move!

Congrats, and welcome to the F:censor Jersey club. ;)
I lived there for the first 37 years of my life.
Finally got tired of paying 10k for property taxes, and moved down south. (thankfully I got out just before the real estate bubble burst a few years ago)
Granted, north of Atlanta isn't quite like Wyoming, but still a hell of a lot different than NJ.
Congrats, and Good luck!

BTW, this is my favorite pic...

Hey Dec, I just took a look at those pictures of your house again and it looks great! I'm going to be nearby in May. My aunt and I are spending a week at a ranch south of Billings, then a week driving around to Glacier and Yellowstone.

They are great!
The house has been nice an toasty even after our -24 degree temps.
The boiler does not run as much as I thought it might.
