Installed my headlight modulator the other night and tested it today. It works great, and a cager even pulled up next to me and said if it wasn't for the headlight flickering, he would have pulled out in front of me! Now that's an endorsement. I put a Visipath Modulator on my 1200C. I bought it on ebay, and just to let you know, I have no affiliation at all with Visipath. Buy whatever brand you want. It has a light sensor that modulates the high beam only during the daytime. The sensor needs to be run thru your existing wiring grommet, or a new hole drilled. After looking at trying to fish it thru the existing grommet, I opted for drilling a new hole. First I covered the plug with plastic to keep metal filings out of the electrical connections. Then I drilled it in the bottom of the headlight because I did not want it to be seen. I drilled from the inside and before I broke thru, I stopped and finished with a dremel. Why? Being that the housing is so thin, pushing the drill thru would make it grab. After finishing the hole with the dremel, I brushed out and wiped all the metal shavings. Then I took some old paint, and blotted it on the bare metel. I then took a rubber grommet that I bought from McMaster Carr, and forced it into the hole. I fished the sensor out just enough to protrude. Then simply plug the unit into your headlight bulb, and the stock plug into the back of the modulator. That's it! It's a slick installation that nobody can really see unless they look at the bottomside of my headlight, and then all they see is a small rubber grommet and a sensor poking out about 3/16". Its a lot cheaper to prevent an accident rather than survive one, and this is an effective way to go. Highly recommened.

Hey there bro,

I think ebay is the way to go. I paid $50 on ebay, and I think it's about $70 on their own website. Be sure to specify the correct type, because they have different ones for different bulbs. But most Harleys use a H4 bulb, and that's what you need it to fit. Here is the ebay link, I hope it works. If you have higher wattage bulbs installed, go to their webite (search for Visipath), and they have modulators for those bulbs too. Ride safe, and have a great 4th of July.

Thanks for the link. It looks like a good item. Their brake modulator is interesting as well.

A warning on brake modulators. I bought one at a bike show a few years ago, after I bought it my buddy says "that thing isn't bright enough during daylight, nobody will see your brake light". Sure enough, the damn thing is worthless during daylight hours. It was a Kissan Tailblazer. It's actualy a bulb with electronics built into the base that control the flashing. It was very dim in the daytime. I would think any modulator that does not actually replace your bulb might be worth looking into.

Does anyone know if the 115 watt would be better incase I wanted to run a brighter head light? Are is 75 watt fine?

I had that same question - here's the answer I got...

"The only difference is max wattage. the 115 watt unit will operate all bulbs 115 watt or less. The other is all bulbs 75 watt or less. So a stock bulb will work with both."
