View Full Version : hooowaaa...1st place for the season!
Narley 5th July 2005, 05:10 Had a few good runs at just the right time. including running the number which freaked out/surprised some people and may have worried them. I had two rounds handed to me by redlights via deepstaging. So I am thinking they were trying to really be on their toes?
So at the end of it I won the day and made up enough points to earn first place so far this season after race 3 of 7. So its a long season left ,but next race I want to win the runs at the long end of the track. But I am very pleased for the points even though I would have prefered winning those two rounds over having them redlight.
next race is a huge drive of maybe 20 hours. So maybe the feild will be smaller.
I am intetnding to win next time on speed ,but I am so glad to have grabbed the points lead earlier in the season then I had planned due to the new program / engine/ clutch/ slick difficulties. By next race I will have added a two step to improve my 60 foots which in turn will mean less horsepower will be needed down the track and that will be easier on my clutches (completetly smoked a brand new one in the first round of eliminations with that 10.26 run -in a 10.2 bracket-It cost me the clutch ,but it made two other riders nervous enough to red light. At least thats what I think, because frankly they are better pilots that I am and they ride dedicated larger displacemt drag bikes,
A STREET RIDDEN 88 inch xl leads the class....HA , I am feeling great. :bump
RedRider 5th July 2005, 12:26 Congratulations, Narley!! Very impressive; a streetable Sportster in the 10's!
bplinson 5th July 2005, 12:35 Great JOB!!! You have any sponsors yet??
prbetts 5th July 2005, 12:36 Hot Damn!
Congratulations, I love it
RedRider 5th July 2005, 12:48 Hey Narley, you've been running a wheelie bar lately, right? How do you think the bike would ET without it?
Narley 5th July 2005, 17:20 Congratulations, Narley!! Very impressive; a streetable Sportster in the 10's!
Thanks...its easily got a 9.9 in there. The 10.1 i did in spokane still had room for improvement as the 60 foot was almost a tenth off which equates to double the gain in et. So I can shave 1.5 tenths of that. The two stage is what I am hoping will see me pulling mid 1.5 60 foots all the time rather than occassionally.
stevo 5th July 2005, 17:31 the two step will help make you more consistent off the line....
And take EVERY point you can get HOWEVER you can get 'em...
dial your own or index is often the luck of the night....
I won a meeting by EVERY opponent runnin a cherry.... :D and I took the money
'cos they knew I was gonna pull a good light and I run close to my dial ins
Sometimes ya don't have to be good....just if they THINK you are ;)
But what most people fail to remember is drag racing is about YOU and the LIGHTS ....the other person doesn't exist
Narley 6th July 2005, 04:15 Hey Narley, you've been running a wheelie bar lately, right? How do you think the bike would ET without it?
By year end i will tell ya. No bars ,no slick....maybe 10.6 ish.
hard to launch as full throttle even rolled on gets u a big wheellie in 1st and the nitrous gets you a flyswat in second. So that means a gentle roll on an no n2o till 3rd....

Hi,
Who's 2 into 1 pipe you got there?
You think it might work with Forward controls?
No, Really, I like them.
Predator 6th July 2005, 05:58 That's just Narley dude :D :D
Congrats on the wins. Like Stevo said a win is a win.
I'm still trying to muster the huevos to go to the track (before the build!!!)
Thanks for keeping us updated. I for one enjoy the read.
Cheers
Narley 3rd August 2005, 07:51 Well lightning strikes again! Backed up the previous win with another first. Holding on to first place for the season and even increasing my points lead over last years champ to 50 points...2 and halfd rounds worth.
In my final run I had a bad bog off the two step ignition...but I mile per houred the fella to a win by 5 hundredths right at the line...it was too close to tell visually...so you have to wait for the drive back to the timers shack to get your slip to see who won.....I was elated to win again. Two wins and two semis and 3 races to go....

bplinson 3rd August 2005, 08:04 Good deal!!! Have you got any video clips of your runs?
RedRider 3rd August 2005, 12:30 Congrats, Narley! Keep us posted on the race action.
It sounds like the bike's been reliable & consistent for ya. Good luck.
mordak 3rd August 2005, 12:52 Narley sweet racing man!!! Keep us posted I enjoy the reads too. :D
stevo 3rd August 2005, 13:12 Take 'em while ya can...
We just had our anuall All Bike drags here and I took the gixxer out..
Lazy high tens all night and won every race but didn't get into the final...
It was run on a round robin format where everyone gets 3 races...
2 with the most wins go to the final...
We had 3 of us on 3 wins so they went back to closest to dial in over the 3 rounds and I got pipped..
One of the 2 in the final was at his first race meeting and I'd been explaining the finer points of DYO to him and a few other guys.....he "lost" one of his races according to the tower but looking at his time card he'd won and they'd written it down wrong upstairs....
So I got his win recognised for him...and then he knocks me out of the final with that pass as it was a couple of thousandths off his dial in....ahhhhh well that's racin.
sportysrock 3rd August 2005, 13:27 WAYTOGO NARLEY!!!!!!!!!!
Get 'em next time Stevo.
I love drag racing. ESPN2 has NHRA but their coverage of Pro Stock bikes is lame, always last in a segment, and sometimes they don't show the first eliminations. AHDRA doesn't come near my house, bummer!
Anyway, Drive Fast, Drink Milk.
Lucifer 4th August 2005, 19:17 Congradulations on another win! We are all pulling for you. Stay cool and win the Championship. Lots of Luck to ya! Better to be lucky than good, any day drag racing!
