Tank Emblems ?

Does anyone know what year these emblems were used? I have a set I am putting on my bike. I was told they were restricted emblems, but I just like the way they look. They have that cut/ground glass inlay surrounded by chrome. Not a good picture...

restricted in what way ? you can do anything you want to your bike

It looks like something the older United States police motorcycles or three wheelers might have had on them. So sales might be restricted to authorized police departments and some police officers.

Just a wild guess.

That is what I have on my '01. I think they were just an option. Possibly restrictive meant that it was created for a certain tank curve where as the normal decal can be put anywhere you have the accomodating surface area; just a thought.

thats the same emblem my 02 1200 custom came with as well, they can be ordered from the dealer , i had seen them in red, blue and purple, there may have been more colors but im not sure

Yeah, I can't find them. Best bet is to call up your local Harley shop and ask them about the part number. It came on mine and apparently on an '02 as well. I am sure you can still get them. Just insure that it will fit your model Sporty. ;)
