I have an ironhead with a wire wheel on front and something that looks like an old wagon wheel on the back. I guess the rear is some sort of rare old custom. I'm looking on ebay for a mag, but don't know how many spokes the 74-77s had. Anyone got a good pic or trade?

If your mag wheel is an 18", I may be willing to trade for an 18" spoke. email me at bamf_shadow@yahoo.com

Looking in my book the first factory cast wheels didn't come along till 1978.
Those were 9 spoke mags but I have a bro that has owned his '74 XLH since '74 and his has a rare set of Morris mags that were installed at the dealer.I'm pretty sure they are also nine spoke and are the wheel that H/D patterned their stock cast wheels after.

I am rebuilding a 74 sportster that had a wire spoke up front and the 7 spoke mag in back. With some help from a guy in Cal. I was able to match up with a 7 spoke mag in front.

Hi All,

1) 1st H-D cast wheels came on the 77 cafe racer XLCR...

2) Yes, early H-D cast wheels are Morris made...

I just bought
http://i5.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/92/cd/1869_12.JPG

Harley Ironhead Sportster Oem Rear Drum Brake Mag Wheel. This wheel will fit 1957 -1978 Sportster drum brake rear wheel applications. The wheel was purchased new from Harley Davidsons old stock about two years ago. It is in perfect condition and comes with spacers and bearings that where installed on my 73 Sportster. The tubeless tire comes with it at no charge to the winning bidder it is in very good condition and rides very well.

I'm actually planning on going back to the 18"

The one on there now is a 16" lace. Kind of cruddy chrome. Supposed to be an 18"
