View Full Version : Have a 1200 conversion now, is a 1250 or 1340 conversion worth the trouble and $$$?

Hey folks, just wondering from those in the know if this is a worthwhile endeavor? Here's my set up so far:

Thunderstorm Heads
Buell Pistons
SE bolt in cams
SE performance ignition
SE performance coil
SE air breather kit
Dynajet kit for the carb, new jets
V&H 2-1 Pro pipe

putting out 82 hp and 72 ft lbs as set up.

I got some cash burning a hole in my pocket and was contemplating MORE HP!

If I went with either upgrade could I leave everything else the same and still be compatible?

Are the bolt on kits the way to go?

Would the HP gain be worth the $$$ spent?

Which would you recommend to do or should I just leave it alone and buy some shiny shit for the bike? :)

Many thanks in advance. regards, chieftd

More cubic inches is always a good modification. But going to 1250 now is a waste of money. But anything larger requires splitting the cases and boring the spigots to accept BIG jugs. If you're going that route, you'll want to go with an 88" kit.

heads flowed and a nitrous kit will make your bike 110 hp and 100 lbs...whats your compression? My 80/80 engine hits 113hp/108 tq on juice.

unfortunately, I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I had a friend of a friend do the work and he didn't tell me much about it in terms of compression. I bought TS heads and Buell pistons and then had the jugs bored. It runs fine but I don't know the specifics. I know....I'm a dumbass, but thats me! :)

I still have my heart set on doing a street tracker conversion so I guess the curent power output is sufficient. I just got in touch with a guy today that said he would do the work so I plan on talking to him this week to get some ideas and prices.

Thanks for your inputs, hell I might find a way to rig a nitrous bottle on it but I'm a bit leary of them things simply because I have never used it and don't want to blow the motor up or hurt myself!

We'll see how it goes. Later, chieftd

Holy S#$T a 87 cubic inch sporty. That sure would be fun and just think of it those BT wouldn't have jack on you with that power to weight ratio.

I think I'm just an adrenline junky, cuz I want one. Sure I scare the piss out of myself on a regular basis, but I could still use an extra 11 cubic inches :D . You just cant have a bike with too many Cubes :tour
