DETACHABLE QUARTER FAIRING KIT
KIT HARDWARE 39MM DETACH WSHLD MNTG

I was on the fence about the HD quarter fairing but it's kind of growing on me. It has been difficult to find a few images of the fairing from different perspectives and most of them were out of focus. I was torn between the Rifle and the HD version. I liked the head light cover (deflects air) so I settled on the HD one. Ordered it from Surdyke.com ...came in about 3 weeks from the factory.

The mounting kit was pretty straight forward. The fairing required some assembly, both in the metal structure that held the fairing and installing a headlight gasket with the included adhesive. I installed everything off the bike accecpt the head light shield. Put that on last. It is adjustable so you can have it open (up) for the feeling of air on your body :wonderlan
You can only adjust it with a screw driver.

I found it provides a nice amount of breaking the wind and making acceleration seem a lot faster. Helps streamline the speedo and tach.

It is made of plastic. Fiberglass would have been nicer. Paint job is good. Fit of headlight shield is a little loose on the top, that is there is a 1/8" gap where water could get in. I'm not sure if this was a misguided attempt at heat control with the headlight...it sort of looks intentional

I would recomend it it... not with ape hangers but if you like cafe racers.

Nice, man! I passed an 883R on the road a couple weeks ago that had one. It really adds a distinctive look to the bike. I've considered one for mine...

If ya don't mind me askin', around how many $$$'s does this set-up go for?

It cost $434
64$ for the mounting kit and $345 for the fairing, painted. from Sirdyke. They don't really give you the colors you have to have the specific number from the HD accessory catalog. Kind of worried the color would be wrong but it all worked out.

Harley is proud of the fairing. $434.00 is a stiff price but I understand the got to have it feeling. Looks great. I had a nees fairing on my bike for a period. I really liked the aerodynamic improvement it offered but the mounting was a pain in the butt. I eventually sold it on ebay. Looking for a wide glide version now.

The fairing itself was $345 (painted). The detachable mounting kit pushed it over $400. Not cheap but then most of the other options were not ether. I think the Rifle painted was like $320 and then the mounting and I was at like $399. It sure cuts the air and the yellow sure catches the cagers eyes...kind of stuns them so they can't move

I have the HD 1/4 Fairing on my bike and agree with the original poster's comments. Nice addition to a great bike! Glad to finally see some good photos. I'd post mine if I could figure out how!
