I'm thinking of getting a full face flip-up.

Has anyone got any experience with this hat?

I looked at it today at the Moto show in Mexico after a 300Km ride with a skid lid. seems like a good option for long rides.

That's the same one I used when I took the MSF course. Pretty comfortable but full face is not for me. Too confining. Used to wear a KBC half but got tired of stuff in my face from sand to bugs to butterflies, and wind noise (I have some hearing loss already due to the work). Now I wear a HD Jet with face shield. Here's a link to reviews/comparisons of seven flip-up helmets including Nolan's http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/accessoriesandgear/fliphelmets/

Good reading ejlab. Thanks.
It gives me some confidence that it's not POS.

DPT..........Nolan also make a good helmet that just has the pull down visor.......

I use mine all the time in the winter.........not as bulky an heavy as the others and gives good protection.......

Thanks for the input Jack.
What grabbed me most with this hat is the chin cover thingy. Gets damn cold up here in winter and my chin starts freezing.

The Nolan 101 is one of four of my helmets, and pretty much the most comfortable and favorite of mine for three out of four seasons here...in the summer, I have to bounce around depending on temperature...I've got a 1/2 HD Simpson, A HD FXR full face, and an HJC 3/4...all good, but I just haven't been able to find one to do it all! The HD FXR is a pain getting my glasses off and on, which the Nolan handles with ease...but the HD FXR is Snell and DOT, plus it feels like a very good quality brain bucket...shoot, I like 'em all I guess! If you are a glass wearer, I think you'll like the full face flip up over the straight full face, but that's been my experience. I think it pays to go to dealers or bike gear shops and do the try on thing...these helmets are quite a personal choice, and being able to see how they look on you will make you enjoy it even more! Good luck on your hunt! Mike

Cheers Mike,
I tried a few different ones and the Nolan seemed to be the most comfortable. (But comparable to the waaay more expensive Shoei)
The reason I ask for opinions is to see if it has any strange things you don't like. Rattles in the back, squeeky suspension etc. :D
Mainly, does it fog up easily? Does the chin protection thing work in the cold?
Is it failing at all?
i like the 1/2 but riding behind a dump truck at 70 isn't fun. Don't like being sand blasted :(

I see...I thought you were just beginning your search...well, like I said, it's currently my most comfortable helmet...I have recently noticed that I get more wind and road noise from the Nolan over the HD FXR FF...I tried some ear plugs the other day for shits and grins, and I feel like I've discovered a whole new concept in riding! At least for me, it took away a measurable amount of fatigue after a long run, and I could still hear vehicles and my engine...back to the helmet...I like running around town with either the visor up or the visor and chin piece up...once on the highway, I usually drop into full face mode...I don't know how your bugs are down there, but I am coming home so bug gutted lately I almost need to hose down before going inside! Visor replacement is pretty straight forward...I'm pretty much using the smoked visor through the summer, but it's easy to change. I don't recall any rattles...just wind noise is all I can think of...I like the way the latch works on the chin strap. I can't think of any other plusses or minuses...I find it a good helmet, and there's better ones $$$ and others with less features and less expensive.

Sounds like a good buy. Thanks for the help.
I don't think the noise thing will bother me considering i'm used to a half helmet. That thing is noisy. Even more than topless for some reason, must be something to do with the straps.
The bugs aren't too bad here, nothing like home. Probably too much polution here for them to survive :D but I just need something for the highway.
I copped a raindrop just under my nose at about 65 and brought tears to my eyes so with rain drops, sand, little rocks and the odd bug, I think i'm going to enjoy the full hat experience and being able to lift the front for some extra air when paying tolls and going through little towns will be really welcome.

Thanks again for your help Mike, much apreciated.

When I bought my Nolan X-1002, I retired my HD 3/4 and my HJC full face. The Nolan is great! Fits my oval shaped head just right, the chin warmer is terrific in the cold, the latch system on the strap beats the D rings by a mile and the drop down tinted visor is superconvenient! It seems to me that all helmets are noisy over 50 mph and the Nolan is probably no worse, maybe a little better than most. I use ear plugs for sustained high speed travel.
