I have to laugh......applied for yet ANOTHER job !!

OK, so this job is in Idaho.....not too far away from me......12-20 miles up the road. The thing is to nail this job down I have to be a licensed social worker in that state. Ok.....so I've been busy submitting the application for that. Plus I am pretty sure Idaho reciprocates with Washington on this license.... so that's good. I tweaked my resume a bit added a picture of me......thinking what the heck have I got to loose......nothing at this point. Sheesh !!!
If I don't get a call back this time I'm going to start thinking someone upstairs doesn't want me to work. I've never had this problem before.....never never never.
Update on the creepy........nothing else has happened. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's over. I don't like being on the defensive end of crap so I have taken steps to try and turn that around. On a side note here........sometimes I do feel scared but now mostly just pist off. Which when I'm pist off I'm no longer fearful of the situation.

It has been a decade since I've been job hunting, but even back then the pool was so deep it was hard to get an interview. What I mean is that too many people applying for the same jobs, and my resumes getting lost in the sea of other qualified applicants. I would only take it personal when I was rejected AFTER what I thought was a good interview. It can really wear a person down if you let it.
The following is not a suggestion, but it is the absolute truth. I got so feed up submitting resumes I wrote a letter to the subsidiary president of my current employer directly. I told him in my letter that if I could JUST GET AN INTERVIEW I knew I would be hired for the position they had posted. I went on to explain my background the good AND the bad and that I would be extremely faithful to the company that gave me the opportunity. Now believe me, the letter was much more involved than what I am prepared to write here. I mailed it. Six weeks later, after I had forgotten about it, I got a call to come in for an interview and bring my resume. I did, and after a lengthy pre-employment process I got hired and have been working there ever since. My employer is Toshiba by the way. Keep the confidence you have in yourself, and don't look at as if someone upstairs is out to get you. God is not out to get you, but you keep at it and when it is right it will happen. Thanks for the updates by the way. |

I kind of feel bad.
Last time I needed a job was 4 years ago. Company closed, owner retired. On the last day, parked the truck, got in the car headed home 60 miles away, stopped at 2 other companies. Got home with 2 job offers. Took the job I'm at now from at 3rd company after deciding to take 2 weeks off before starting a new job. But 13 years ago, I was unemployed for 57 weeks. Got 45 weeks un-employement and 3 welfare checks. I was always under as a chef or over qualified as a sous-chef or cook. I finally got a crappy job (that got me a much better one 3 months later) after driving 7 hours in a snow storm after being told I was over/under qualified for their openings. |

I was recently made redundant from my job as an electrical engineer here in England.
It's only been a month or so but there is nothing on the horizon. The last time I needed to find employment it took a couple of weeks. things are grim here at the moment. Ironically this time last year I was offerered a position in the U.S. (Georgia) and did'nt take it because of the impending global recession. Kind of glad that I did'nt now I think things are worse in the States. Luckily we have free healthcare here and our benifit system is there to help, also being an electrician I can always find cash jobs to keep my head above water. Hope things go well for you and keep trying. Wurz ![]() |
