Adder, I didn't build the motor, a customer did, although he did it in my shop. I was a consultant on the build but didn't do the actual work. Anyway, I'm not sure what the CR came out to, but it's likely about 13.5 to 14:1. The motor is an AHDRA Hot Street spec and they've got a spec fuel and that limits it a bit.

I like 1250's a lot, I have three of them (04 XL, 96 S2, 99 M2) but there's something special about the big motors. They can be made to make a lot of power like this one or they make a terrific 110-120hp street motor.

I have a 90ci Buell S1W that I built up for my wife. It puts down 122rwhp on very streetable compression, pump gas friendly. That thing is a total unicycle, always wants to be on it's back wheel.

The main advantage of the 88 over the 90 is weight ... I really don't like doing 90's in aluminum cylinders, my wife's bike notwithstanding. At that bore size, the cylinder gets awfully thin in the pushrod relief area. I've helped people do a handful and none have broke but damn, that can't be good. Cylinders twist and distort and that hurts ring seal. I really would rather see a person go to cast iron if he wants a 90. If weight is a concern, then do an 88 in aluminum.

The race bike I described is cast iron in 88", but that's a bike that races under a set of rules that had a minimum weight per ci formula. So it's a special case, he has to ballast up his bike anyway. Plus the iron cyls give better ring seal. And at that power level, he needs the strength of iron to give him a chance to not break the cases. But on a street 110-120hp build, aluminum cyls work fine.
