Default Toad's 883 Cafe Bobster Build

Hey all, been cruising the site for about a year, and just realized I haven't posted any pics or real details of my build. So, here goes.

Bike when I bought it. 2005 883C. Price was low for Japan. $5500 for a rust bucket.

About a week after I got it home, and started to take the dremil tool to this sucker.

T'was leaning more on the bobber, and less on the Cafe because of Japanese inspection.....very strict, but progress had been made.

By this time, I had gotten the old lady off of my back, and was starting to do what I had originally intended.

RSD Clip Ons, Progressive 14.25" Shocks, Mid Controls.....that Japanese inspection won't pass with aftermarket exhaust, so rears are on hold until my next JCI in September. A few other minor things, Side mount speedo, painted stuff, you know.

By now I got balls deep in fiberglass and bondo. Didn't take pics of the fiberglass build, but made a mould out of floral foam, wrapped it in duct tape, waxed it, glassed it, and Bam!

Primed, seat temp upholstered until I get back from work travel.

Tail section starting to look a little better. Still some work needs done when I get back to the island in a few weeks.

New tank decal. Buddy's old lady has a vinyl cutter, so gold letters on glass black tank "Sides" Keeping the textured top, don't know why, I just really like that look. Plus easier to hide my shady tree mechanic paint skills

Oh, 7" headlight is in a box in my VERY MESSY garage. Ignore the mess, storage space in Japan comes at a premium. I am lucky to have a garage Let me know what you guys think, give me some input! Always open to new ideas that I am oblivious to.

Looks good, Toad. Clean & simple. I like. You gonna black out the rear wheel? & maybe the valve covers, too? I think that would go well with the silver heads & jugs & the chrome pushrod tubes.

I didn't buy a Sportster 'cause I wanted a Harley... I got a Harley 'cause I wanted a SPORTSTER!!! He who gives up liberty for security, will have neither. Ben Franklin

I am getting an 18" rear and 19" front spoked wheel. Gottahave a little chrome atleast. Oh, and Thomas Jefferson said "a society that gives up a little freedom for a little order, will lose both, and deserve neither.". Close though

I hate to say it, but when I do not like something or just plain don't get some thing I voice up. Your Harley decal; it doesn't say Harley to me. TO me it says hQrley, or at best horely.
