Haven't seen on '04 but the tool i got with my Honda Shadow 750 many years ago has been perfect for all of my bikes: Yamahas, Hondas, and Sportys. They still use the same one for all the new Hondas. I'd get one at the Honda dealer.

Pick up a shock spanner wrench at your local stealer.

At that weight, I'd say the Progressive 412s set on the third notch will do and progressive springs upfront with 15w oil and yer good to go.

Thanks I was wondering if I had to just lift the bike up, or unbolt them, or if there was a trick to it.

No trick, spanner fits in grooves, just make sure left and right are the same. I've heard you can wrap a rag around the adjuster and use pump pliers but I wouldn't suggest that!!!
