Default speedo install help

i'm building a chopper ....and i want to install my speedo to my softail 5-speed tranny instead of the front wheel ...can i somehow connect a speedo to the tranny?

...okay today i found out where i am suppose to attach my speedo cable ...only thing is that where there is suppose to be a hole ...it is blocked off ...does anyone have a stock tranny with this hole already there ...so i can figure how how much to machine off my tranny to install the speedo

Shouldn't there just be a block-off plug in a threaded hole for the speedo drive gear in the tranny? I wouldn't tap it out as you would get metal shavings in your tranny, maybe there is some plug that is threaded or press-fit in?
