Hi there. What's the clearance between the gusset plate and your engine casing? I have a similar set up, but bolted the gusset plates so that they point downwards, away from the engine. I tried it the other way, but there was no clearance. I have short legs, well actually, I am just short, so I had to modify the bolt holes to move the pegs closer to me, but it works great.

there is enough clearance to mount them up for sure. I think there is an eighth of an inch on each side

Extended foot pegs
I bought the same set up for my new nightster on ebay. when i installed the right side, the frame bracket contacted the engine cam cover case HARD. The whole frame vibrated so bad i would not take out of the drive way. I removed it and ground the top and still could move the motor by hand to cause contact. I enlongated the mounting holes and lowered the whole bracket about 1/4" and all is fine, 'specially with Iso pegs. I learned that there is A LOT of motor movement with rubber mounts. My 86 doesnt have that problem, but i cant see anything in the mirror either.

Now i'm kind of worried. I went out in the garage and rechecked the clearance. I have an 1/8 inch on each side for sure. I took it for a test run around the block and didn't have any problems. The real test will come tomorrow when I drive to work. Anyone else had problems with this setup?

I have some on my bike I got cheap for an 03, then made my own brackets.I had someone watch the clearance from the side wile I sat still and torqued the engine with the clutch and front brake. If you do this be careful.
