VIN number for 2010 883N
and i guess just for the newer sportsters all together,
I have used the vin decoders online and getting strange info from my VIN,
one even said it was not a correct VIN, and going through the info myself, it dosnt seem to match up with the info that is on the web,
I thought maybe that it is a 2010 model the info on the web has not been updated,
can anyone here help with decoding a newer VIN, I really want to do this just to know a bit more about my bike, particularly the date it was made etc.
further looking, mine is an international model, maybe this is the issue with the info on the web ?
here is the VIN if anyone can tell me a little more about the bike 5HD4LE2G3AC412808

Check with your dealer.

That's weird. I thought the vin should start off with a "1"??? Also, and this might be a dumb question, but what is an 883N??

883 version of the nightster would be, more or less, the iron, but I dont believe thats an 883N 5HD is going to be canadian. LE is where you have your issues because I am not showing that as an actual model designator.

however the HD site shows an 883N and that vin number as an Iron https://www.harley-davidson.com/EX/M...bmLocale=en_US
So its a canadian 883 Iron. 5=Canadian, HD harley, 4=weight class, LE must = Iron.

the "N" identifies it as part of the "Dark Custom" XL's...883 Nightster, 883 Iron

this is an australian version,
what i have figured out is
5 = international model
LE = IRON 883
2 = 883 ESPFI the engine type, the first 2 in the sequence, the last lot of numbers 412808 is the id of the bike or something)
A = 2010 model year, seems before this they were using numbers ie 1 = 2001, 2010 it seems has gone to letters so A = 2010
so the stuff i am yet to understand is the G which should be the release timeframe, and C which is supposed to be where it was manufactured, most sportsters i would take a guess at being a K here, where as mine is a C,
K i beleive = Kansas.
5 HD 4 LE 2 G 3 A C
International(5) Harley Davidson(HD) Lightweight(under 1000cc i beleive)(4) IRON XL883N(LE) 883 ESPFI(2) unknown(G) checkNumber(3) 2010 Model(A) unknown(C)
then ID of 412808
i only learnt this toady, so i might be way wrong.

5 = Country of Origin = United States
HD= Manufacturer = Harley Davidson
4 = Vehicle Type = Middle Weight (351-900CC)
LE2G = Model = unrecognized
3 = Check Digit = valid
A = Year = 2010
C = Plant = Kansas City, MO
4##### = sequence number (you bike's specific #)
