Show me the money!!
Ok so I have been waiting patienly for a raise.I got a $2 raise 2 summers ago.I just cant seem to get the guts up to ask for one.How many of you have asked for a raise and gotten what you had wanted? What steps did you take to get it?I have been surfing the net and found a great article on it just in case anyone else is in the same boat as me..... http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/raise/raise.html
My boss is on the cheapy type side. Most of the people in my shop dont make as much as they should. He pays on the lower side of the industry standards.

What kind of body shop do you work in? Usually (in dealerships) the techs get raises when the labor rate increases.

The one owner lady(she sucks) says that just because you get a review it doesnt mean you will get a raise!

Hope you get your raise. It might be good if you put your resume out and see what kind of bites you get and what they are willing to pay. If you have another/better offer you can use it for leverage or it might be time to move on. Good luck.

Brandi, I've recieve the raise that I've asked for almost everytime, but everytime I've threatened to quit unless I got a raise it 'ruined' my enjoyment of the job. If the money is there, you are producing quality work, and you are willing to work with your employer, he would be a fool to turn you down. And if he is a fool, you need a new job anyway.

The only time I asked for a raise, I had to convince my boss why I was adding value to the business. It had nothing to do with time there. I was able to use the review that I got and some other stuff to show that I was bringing in more $$$.
Other than that, I've made the most significant gains when switching jobs or positions within the same company.
With a small business, I'd suggest NOT giving them an ultimatum unless you are prepared to walk, and have a better job lined up.
(But I still have some tins that you could paint for extra $$$ )
