Default Buell S3T questions

I looked at a 2000 Buell S3T today. Comes with 2 sets of bags, has about 20,000 miles on it and comes with 2 windshields. Fella wants $3000 for it. I like it, but I know nothing about these bikes. Any thing in particular I should be aware of? The only things I see wrong with the bike, is the low fuel warning light doesn't work and the bike needs a shock, which I've heard are pricey items. Is it worth $3000?

You'll probably have more luck over at badweatherbikers.com that and/or if you go to the cycleworld forums look for BSANorton - he's usually in the antique/classic bike section, anyway, I THINK last I heard he had two of em (S3Ts).

I picked up an S3T after I crashed my XR1200, I could not be happier, I paid 3k, and just love it, that seems to be the low end of the spectrum that I observed, maybe because it needs a shock. Two bag sets are a huge plus and you can always upgrade the shock to a werks or penske.

Mine had 26k on the clocks and it runs super. Good luck, sorry I didnt have any hard facts.

Go for it - $3k is good. You can get a used shock off eBay for $100 (just be sure to get the right length and post-recall version), or there are places that will rebuild yours. Works is around $800, Penske $1200, but I'm told they're well worth it.
