Default Exhaust pitting

Have bassani radial sweepers
black ceramic

i was riding the other day and whe i got home notices spotting on the pipes

thought it might be water damage -- seems like it has eaten through the ceramic

any one heard of this know a way to prevent them from rusting or if there is something i can do to fix it
