yes, i used a side cutter to remove the lid, three screws in lid to make stand. if you position them right the grooves in the bottom of the tuna can catch them and keep it from sliding off. three tea lights will not boil water but will get it hot. good for rehydrating food, cocoa, warming coffee. can also use the tea lights in the can as a heat source in tent. i have seen survival candles in round can with three wicks that i may buy to see if they last longer than the tea lights and will fit inside the can.

I like my set a whole lot more
I have 2 stoves ( I take 1)
first stove is a Swiss made backpacker that uses any Liquid fuel and its up dated with a small pump to easy start
the other is more modern But stil a back pack stove it uses a Butaine Mix both will boil water
in a Breakfast mode .7 Liter water makes coffee and Hot Cereal My cook set has a pan Pot and Kettle
I make 1 pot meals sometimes simple Beans and Weenies orther Potato and sasuage with Krout
caned or home made soups and stews even stick bread
camp with no less than 3 liter of water and 2 qt or 6 pack beer I carry a flask for a stiff drink
all this set is part of a 40 Lb system I tested and proved on many road trips

the penny stove on the right is what i use for boiling water. it runs off rubbing alcohoal or heet. it is made of pop cans so if you lose it no big deal, once you learn how to make one you can duplicate it with minimal tools and resources.

the penny stove in action, on 1/4 ounce rubbing alcohoal it will burn for 4-5 min, boil 1 cup of water in 3-4 min. using a 5 hour energy bottle i can store 2 oz of fuel.

Can your penny stove simmer?
my butane can or boil .5 litter water in 7 minutes
the multy fuel can do it depending on what fuel can do it in 10 min
I can make a real comfy camp
I do like your craftmanship MXR33, and I see you can go lighter

that is one of the drawbacks to it, no control over the flame. fun little project i found that was easy and cheap to make. i found an extra use for it, by polishing the bottom part of the can you can use it as a signal mirror for help, and like a magnifying glass to direct sunlight onto timber for a fire starter.
