Red face leaking head gasket

I have a 92 1200 ,the front head gasket is leaking I have been reading up on changing it but have a couple questions, should I do both head gaskets and base gaskets or just the head that is leaking,I seen a post that said to leave the piston in the jug by pulling the wrist pin to do the base gasket,my H.D. manual says never to reuse the circlip,do I need to get new ones or will it be ok to reuse the old ones? I went to the dealer and got a top end gaskit kit but i also have the gaskits to do just one head its getting nice and with gas prices I want to ride A.S.P.
Thanks
Jeff
