He said he was going to assemble it and ship it that day.
They was about a 3 week delay because apparently they tried an new powder coater and it came back shit. They had to send it back out to the normal guy they use.

It should be here any day.
Only thing now is I've had some warnings from other XL forum members warning me of Led Sled!

two actually to be accurate. One guy said he ordered a frame and it was totally tweaked and not straight.

Another guy said they did a full build for him and the dam thing fell apart and had the rear tire mounted the wrong direction among other things.

Nervously awaiting the box in the mail....
I'll keep ya'll informed when it arrives.

i Was in Huntingtn Beach last week and went to see Chica, a bike builder who was on Biker Build Off.

He told me by adding a springer front end to a late model Sporty you will lose 50% of the steering. He told me you do it if its a show bike or a second bike that you don't ride so often.

Unfortunately i'm not willing to sacrifice safety for looks. Sucks cause i really want one.

Let me know how yours works out.

-take your bike for a ride and pay close attention to how far you move the bars left/right when riding, even thru twisties--not much...the narrower the springer the less room you have to turn when going slow--the wider the legs are apart the more turning radius you get---the ones he makes for sporties are wider for this reason...
also there are others out there that make wider--i am ordering one from twisted choppers (mid) -they have narrow/mid/wide--not from experience but i think that all riding would be ok w/ either one of them, also you need to have room between the legs for the caliper set-up(so not the narrow)--
but the turning around when slow/tight might be different-u-turns,figure eights,circles--more room would be needed-not that i do any of those maneuvers daily..
-or you could rake the neck out or do what krypto did to his frame(notched out) where the legs would have contacted the frame......

The key point to remember when fitting a springer front end to a 2004+ sporty is that it will need to be offset.

Most springer front ends are designed with the rear legs in line with the neck tube and this won't work on the later bikes, due to a reduction in the available turning circle as you have said.

From memory the offset needed for later bikes is 2 1/2"

Spence you nailed it...
So long as you have a offset springer built this 50% steering issue is resolved.
This is precisely why I had to have Led Sled build the offset one and returned the one from Zero Engineering.

I have the Led Sled in my garage and will be putting it all together as early as monday or maybe Wednesday!
I'm stoked but still a bit nervous something is going to either not work out or I'm not gonna like for whatever reason I may not like it - - BUT you don't know if you don't try... and that's what doing your own mods is all about.

Holdfast, how does the Led Sled springer look?

Are you happy with the quality and so on?

I'd love to hear!!!

Well this is encouraging! The first one to successfully do the springer will have a lot of questions to answer...
