Yeah but it cant be a 69, and has a boat tail. Rider is Rodney Gott chairman of AMF. Press photo taken in 1969 in Millwauke. Imagine finding this bike posting pics of it...........only to be told your 19691/2 sportster was never produced.

If Willy G.'s last name had been Smedley we wouldn't have had to suffer through those boattails.

Absolutely 1970. RPO (regular production option)
those boat tails gave us renegades something hard core. the non chrome fender rails. relflector holes though. same black paint as the frame.

That seat makes a lot more sense with the turtle tank, it almost looks in proportion.

That is a 1969 XLH with the New Boatail, I'm bettin a Harley Factory Promo Picture of a very early Boatail used on a 69 H, or a tail added to a 69 H,

*Update, the DR beat me to the punch.. sorry I don't read well in the morning... I'm lovin me some Boatail these days...

Yeah, it's funny. I hated them when they first came out, but I've grown rather fond of them over the years.

Nice bike. Love or hate the boattail, its still a very nice and historically correct bike.

There were 1970 boat-tail sporters. I know because I have one. I bought it from a guy in Kansas, it was box-stock. The owner had removed the boat-tail and installed a standard seat and aftermarket tail-light. You could tell it was originally a boat-tail because of the bobbed rear fender. Same color blue as the model in the photos above, but an XLH model with saddlebags, windscreen, and large tank.
