I had a year #1 (86) evo sportster, and now have an 04 (carbed rubber mount). I gotta say, I prefer the rubber mounted sportster hands down. It still feels plenty quick and nimble, but doesn't rattle the fillings out of my teeth on extended highway slogs @ 80mph. Like Morvenhouse said, it's just about the perfect comprimise....w/o really comprimising anything.

Why buy a 883 then convert it to a 1200 and take the chance of something going wrong? I ride a 05 1200 with 22000 miles and its just getting broke in!!
