I plan on opening up the tranny, but this will be the first time I've done anything like this so I'm a little hesitant to start popping things off. I'm having a hard time making sense of the manual & I just want to know what I'm in for.
(I'm gonna go ahead and expose my newbness here) will I be taking the primary cover off & the whole clutch assembly as well as the right side cover too? Or can I get it all from the right side?
Also, the parts that Dr. Dick mentioned, where should I be getting the replacements?
I'm just trying to do my homework before I get in too deep. Kinda mentally preparing you know
I Appreciate the experienced insight

those bike were 1000's. these bikes will tolerate 'a pretty good job'
a 900 is a more intricate machine, its not as tolerant as a 1000.
requires careful tedious attention to detail.
but when done properly you probly never be in there again.
dr dicks 3 rules of happy 900 ownership:
1) NEVER GUESS
2) if unsure, do it like the factory did.
3) advice from well meaning guys who never owned a 900 brings you squarely to rule 1.
900s are vastly different machines from 1000s no matter how similar they appear.
get your pic posting streamlined. ur gonna need to post lots of pics to get the advice you need.
