Default Difference in levers for 04-06 models

So im looking to purchase new levers (brake/clutch) for my 06 sporty. However, all the ones that i like say the will only fit 07-11 models. The exact ones that i want are the Custom Chrome 4 hole levers. But they only fit 07-11. Well i recently did a nightster front end swap. The swap included the 07 nightster master cylinder WITHOUT the brake lever. I simply used my 06 brake lever and it works fine. So my question is, whats the difference?
