The filler cap on my X1 has always been a bit fiddly, but I had the cap flange and rubber boot off recently and after re-fitting the cap is almost impossible to latch closed or unlatch.
Anyone had that problem and found a cure for it or found another cap to fit (keyless would be ok)

Not sure bud, but I went to remove my cap on my 2000 X1 and It simply will not release, after popping the tab and unlocking it the release mechanism will not seem to release. If I hear anything I will definitely let you know and hopefully likewise
try taking the tank off and turn it upside-down to wet the cap and boot with petrol, mine seemed to get better if I kept the tank pretty full and used it more often, which may mean the rubber boot was drying out and sticking?
common problem on the tube frames, sucks.
Mine did it, I took off the locking mechanism completely.
Fortunately for me its on a dragbike, so I just use a piece of duct tape to secure it down now.
But I was at the track when mine gave up the ghost, I had to remove the 6 allen bolts and take it apart that way.
