oil pump 26204-91A should is spin freely?
oil pump drive gear failed this morning.
Should the oil pump gear shaft spin freely?
Is there a better oil pump(upgraded) for 26204-91A that I should purchase IF it is supposed to spin freely( it does not)
Is there any trick to getting the oil pump to drop out of the case LOL
I've taken the 2 long bolts out and it just hangs in there

I don't know if is should spin freely bc when my drive gear when out, it poped the oil pump shaft up like a jack in the box.
The only things holding the pump in is the 2 screws, the gasket.

It doesn't. I ordered a new one just to be safe. HD got me for $335 for it =/
$107 for the pinion gear, and $45 for the tool.
I've seen mention on the forums that it should spin freely. I was checking as mine does not. The gasket must be holding mine on, I will get it off and apart. I'll probably rebuilt it for a spare.

If it's connected to a gear, that gear would mesh with another gear, how would it move freely?? If the gear took a dump, I could see that!!

I hope you got the Pro series gear (brass color) and not the original exploding gear.

Btw: new oil pump arrived, rotates freely out of the bike
