Default Gas tank swap

So this winter im doing a complete rebuild of my 09 nightster. plan on doing a hardtail and a bunch of other mods. was wondering if anyone has cut out the section on there tank where the fuel pump is and welded it up on a different tank. its got to be possible. just have to worry about clearance issues in the tank. any thoughts?

What other tank are you thinking of? I have noticed that there are not a lot of tanks that offer an EFI option. Look forward to pics if/when you start the project!

I wouldn't weld the old pump into a new tank. It's plastic.

im kinda thinking a peanut tank like the frisko one with the indented sides. but i mainly want to do it to get rid of the mounts that the stock one has. Weld on some bungs in the tank and mount it through the frame. but thanks dead mac im gonna purchase that instead. and jharback. id take the pump out before i cut and weld the mount in.

That looks like it will open a lot of doors on fuel tanks!
