Default Leaking after service, HELP identify

I took my bike in for 7500 mile service, 08' 1200XLC. I have only put about 300 miles on since service and I just noticed multiple leaks. I am new to riding, this is my first bike, so I am not familiar with what is touched on each service. Regardless of that, these leaks did not exist prior to the service so I know where they came from and I know they are not good. The attached pic shows both locations. The main focus of the pic is what appears to be an over flow. The top of the case is covered in some lubricant, not sure what it is. I have made a red circle at the bottom of the pic. This plate also has lubricant leaking from it. Please help identify what is leaking and also help inform me before I go back to the shop and start pointing

fingers.

Looks like the tranny/primary oil was topped up a bit to much. The cover {circle} may not have been installed with a new gasket or just installed poorly.

First, is it actually a leak or is it a spill?
Liquid covers an area with just a small amount of volume.
Spray some detergent on it, rinse it off and then recheck.
If the filter gasket was oiled and put on hand tight, it should not leak
If the oil hose clamp was resecured with a nut driver at reasonable torque, it should not leak. Both of those are at the bottom of the engine.
On the other hand, if some oil was spilled during a careless refill, that may explain.

Primary fluid is generally red (trans fluid), and that cover you circled is where it would be added (primary chain checked)

What all was done for your 7500 mile service?

I have not yet cleaned it up because I wanted to point it out to the mechanic. I considered a spill but I can not locate oil anywhere other than the top of that case (besides the lower leak which is obviously coming from the small cover). The fluid is black, not red.

I am not sure what was all done. I was told it was a 7500 mile HD service. In hind sight I should have been more critical.

Your invoice should itemize the services performed/allegedly performed
The primary inspection cover may not have been wiped off when it was re-installed...or maybe it is as FiveCats mentioned.

I would tend to agree with sportsterdoc, I think it is some spilled fluid possibly running out of the funnel when they filled the primary, I would do the same spray some detergent rinse it off and see if it reappears you already have one pic of it.

There is a 2500 mile service and a 7500 mile service at my dealership in addition to the 5k service intervals. I'm assuming it is an oil change service for those using reg oil and not synthetic. Then of course they probably do a safety point inspection and maybe some other small stuff.........Or just change the oil.

Primary fluid will only be red of an aftermarket lube was used. If the service was done at a dealer (or an indy shop that uses HD fluids), it'll look like regular oil kinda tan in color.

If you did take it to a dealer, they shouldn't have done a 7500 mile service. That interval was taken out of the lineup quite some time ago. Now, it's 1K, 5k, and every 5000 miles thereafter.
