Jest wasn't aimed at anyone... was more of a poke at the ads we all see that state all kinds of non-sensical things... "56 PanSter with factory dual disks and Stage One 1200kit!!!!"
Personally, I'd LOVE to have a shovel keeping my ironhead company out in the garage, and I'm rooting for JB to luck out and give that one a good home.

I'm thinking the trailer is abandoned as the yards a mess, but someone def mowed it once or twice this year. It's a 72 in a 58 panhead frame, I was looking at the frame and it looked earlier than a shovel, so I think it's a police pan frame, had 58 as the last digits on the swing arm. I left a note on the door either way, I just feel bad leaving it there.. I'll talk to the folks at the tax office, maybe I can get more info on it so I can rescue it relatively soon. And more rain is about to fall on it :\ Sucks it's illegal to rescue old machines.
We own Ironheads, damn stubborn machines, so we can be a bit of smart/hard asses.

Check abandoned vehicle laws there. "tow" it home and file for a title, takes thirty days in va. If that is a 58 frame, you can build that whole bike and then some! Just saying!

you can get the vin and check the register for who it belongs to and go from there I've had to do that with a few vehicles over the years sometimes its as easy as just telling them its collecting storage on your lot at $20 a day plus impound fee and they just sign it over to do away with the headache.

The Shovel is the Iron's little brother. Ya know, the younger bro that just happens to grow up bigger? Lil' bro may be bigger, but he ain't as tough, has slower reflexes, nowhere near as mean and none of the lightning-quick zigzag ability. Babybro sure isn't as handsome, either. ( It is painfully obvious that the HD designers couldn't stop thinking about Ironheads when the Shovel was on the drawing boards.)
Not that the Shovel is a slouch. A well tuned Shovel is a pleasure to ride. It can even be a fast, fun beast. But it sure ain't got the same bite as an average Ironhead Sporty!
JB, I sure hope you can rescue that bike. It looks like it could use a good home filled with wrenches and penetrating oil.
Here's a pic of my old Shovel. It's a rare FU model...
Life is short. Ride hard.

I just love all the old Harley motors, they look like real hardcore machines. Speed doesn't matter to me, I just dig the look of those motors. Mosey that is one cool machine! The evos just don't possess that tough exterior, sure they may be more reliable, but I see more evos in the shop than shovels! And I'd give it a great home full of mothers polish, wrenches, and all the 60 weight it can drink, and an Ironhead it can hang out with in the garage. I'm going to the tax place now, maybe I can find who owns the land and work from there..

If you want to know who owns the land, you can usually go to the county asessors website. That's all public information. It depends on how modern they are but usually there's something about who the person is who pays taxes on the property and sometimes adress information. I know for my county theres an interactive map that allows you to click on all of the parcels in the county.
