'86-'03 Frame mount Evo exhausts?
I am trying to find out what exhausts are available for my '99 Evo 1200cc motor.
Looking around Ebay seems like most headers or complete pipes are for the 2004-2012 Evo motor.
Does anyone know who sells '86-'03 pipes. I already have a pair of slip on Kromewerks 2.5" tapered mufflers so would prefer to buy just header pipes.
If I can't buy aftermarket headers I guess I will look at buying a set of straight cut drag pipes for my build.
Anyone got any ideas on who sells the '86-'03 pipes?
Dave

Most Exhaust Makers still provide pipes for the rigid mounts. What type of are you wanting? If you want to keep your mufflers I'd just buy a set of headers and install your mufflers on 'em. But that's not going to give you very good performance. Do you want straight pipes, 2-1, or a 2-2 system?
Here is one that is considered one of the top performers that will fit your year bike: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/440-790

Thanks for the reply and the info Jim,
Best if I start with my Sportster build I doing right now:
http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s....php?t=1489261
As you can see I am combining the Ironhead chassis with the Evo motor so will be custom fitting many things through out the build to get it all to work.
As far as the performance consideration of my exhaust goes, I am willing to compromise performance for what I think will suit the look of the bike more so pretty sure I want to stick with a 2-2 system and use the Khromewerks mufflers I already have.
Do you know of any suppliers that supply just the headers for the '86-'03 XL?
Thanks again, Dave.

Lots of choice here for 86 to 03, search the site for 2003 Sportster
Cycle Shack ... http://www.cycle-shack.com/
For example ...

Note that the slip fits also fit 1979 so it looks like an error in the title.

Thanks Mick, that gives me a few pipe styles to study and think about for my build. Dave.

Thanks, been giving that a try, mainly finding 2004 and up on ebay when it comes to headers.
Have now found the Australian agent for KhromeWerks who have replied to my request for a price on KromeWerks 86-03 straight cut drag pipes.
KW200195C $218.95 which is not too bad price for new pipes landed here in OZ.
Still would need heat sheilds on top of that as I am guessing my 04-12 OEM heat sheilds that are in perfect shape would not suit the earlier bend pipes?
Will keep thinking on best way to go before buying.
I already have one set of headers that don't fit my Evo.
The joy of building a custom bike
Dave
