Default Starter Motor Housing

Not sure really sure how this happened, but the shift lever for the starter gear (31424-67) snapped in half when I tried to start the bike this morning!

Now that I have the starter off the bike, I cant seem to move the pivot bolt (31478-67) to remove the broken bit. Any ideas on how to get this thing off?

The plunger rod has the second half of the broken lever on it - is this a single piece-part I need to buy, or can I remove the pins to get the spring / broken piece off?

Yes, the hand impact AKA impact driver; you hit it withy a hammer. Buy at Princess Auto, Harbor Freight, etc. They are not expensive so go for the good one. Don't buy the $10 one; go for more like $25.
