Default Problem Solved But Not Fixed - Need advice

03 883R. I recently posted about a headlight issue I was having:

http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s....php?t=1497422

In a nutshell, the headlight was no longer coming on, despite the fact my bulb was not burned out, my fuses were good, and my tail light was working. I also found no fried wires or anything odd in the can. So, tonight, just for shits and grins, I decided to mix-match my deutsch connectors, thinking I could have a problem with my handlebar switch. I disconnected both deutsch connectors, and swapped them, the gray going to the black and vice versa. As soon as I did that, my headlight came on. VOILA! Of course, now my electricals on my handlebars are switched. My left turn signal button operates my right turn signal, my horn button now ignites the motor, my starter button operates my horn, and so on.

Now that I have the problem identified, I don't know how to fix it. My bars are internally wired, and were a HUGE PITA to get them that way. Is there any way to fix the switch without having to replace the switch itself and pull all the wiring? Looking at the switch, I don't see how in the world to take the internals apart where the wires go into the hi/lo button. Does that make sense? Any help would be great. Thanks a million.

a bad switch is a bad switch!! could be a pinched wire also. you should be able to split the bar boxes and check and if so, the switch can be changed without pulling the wire from the bars.

Just received my new switch yesterday. I'm installing it tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. Should be simple.
