Thanks for the support/input.

I hope your not thinking of taking your bike to Rosa's cycles in Huntington. i took mine there first from a recommendation from my Indy and the guy told me he didn't even want to be bothered with carbed bikes even though he did the dyno for $500. changing 1 jet and then he gave me glory numbers of 89 HP and 88 Torque and all I have is the 04 XB heads ported and polished stage 3, Jim's powerglide lifters, S&S roller rockers, Andrews N4 Cams, I had the stock carb at the time, Daytona twin tech single fire ignition, Thunderheader exhaust and forcewinder intake with the float bowl vent modified.
I took it to Speeds Performance while at Americade one year which is a setup that originates from Sturgis wear the guy put his Dyno into a big rig and he goes to all of the bike weeks tuning bikes for a living. He also makes and sells performance parts through Drag specialties and also through his own website. He was only getting 80 HP and 78 Torque so I had him put the mikuni on the bike and tune it again and with some work he was able to get me up to 85 HP and 81 Torque which you can look at on my dyno sheet I have a link to in my signature if you want to.

Speeds will be up in Laconia this week if you can make it up there. He does it while you wait and you can watch him do it. He spent about 2-3 hours at least on my bike pulling it until he could not get anymore out of it.

It will keep you going to lean, to rich, and maybe gain some power.
BUT, the problem with that Air Fuel reading is that a dyno run consists of running the bike through the gears, then at around 2500 rpm they crank it WO and that curve is a result of what happens on acceleration at WOT, which does not read directly in the mid range to show you what changes need to be made to the needle circuit.

If you are building a dragster, a dyno is perfect, but for rideability, that needle and the pilot circuit are the most important parts of the carb.

I have a dyno chart posted over in the dyno section. My bike was never on a dyno before that day, and we only ran it to look for differences between the SE ignition and a TC88a with the Jester III program. If you look at the chart they were close to identical, and it just confirmed a good tune to begin with (we made no adjustments on the dyno).

Indeed, Rosa's was who was recommended on the phone. The way the fella spoke to me on the phone, it sounds like he is used to dealing with rich folks with Harley's who are easily swayed by tough-guy-tone. He was pretty gruff on the phone. Maybe he was just having a rough day, though honestly, it sounds a bit like the same vibe you got too.

"Meanwhile back at city hall"

I am lookin for someone else to do it if at all. Yes, I wouldn't be shocked if the bike could be tweaked a bit better. Certainly someone with some years under their belt tuning the thing would most likely get some more out of her. I have the bike running better than it ever has, after working through some weird series of "events" last season. I am going to run her for a little while and check the plugs. I figure that is a good place to start. I may check back with you guys for more info.

And Dan. . . .

Thanks for the clarification. I am not after big HP numbers at all costs if you catch my drift. I think the only way I would be interested in the programmable ignitions is if they improve low end grunt or mid RPM torque, or maybe fuel economy.

Best,
j

I was warned by my indy that he wasn't the type of person that liked to B.S. He told me if I take the bike there not to try and talk to the guy that much. He said to bring it there and tell him you want it dyno tuned and that is about it, not to ask to many questions. They did do the dyno-tuning on the v-rod for Harley's race team that Lighthouse Harley sponsored when it was open.

I paid them about $400. for my tune and that included them installing a brand new Mikuni Carb on my bike that i bought from them. I think the Mikuni was like $260 or something around that price so the tune was in the ballpark of $140 if i remember correctly.
You could also ask Reddtigger how much his cost since he did his right after mine the same day but he did not add any parts to his bike at the time.
