Default S and I ????? starter relay Q

ok my 79 xls f/m shows starter solinoid relay with 3 termanals 2 big 1 small, on the one they gave me at the shop has 2 big I know where they go and 2 small one marked S and the other marked I ,I need to use one of these witch one? I watched a video , (for a car starter relay), and they said dont use the s term only the I , what the heck termanal do I use and what's the other one be for? thanks

I'll have a look when i'm in the shed later, if it mounts up under the battery box like my 77 does, you use the small terminal towards the front of the bike. I'll confirm S or I later

You can test by hooking it up to a battery. neg. to case. pos to 1 of the pins.only 1 should make the relay operate.

I'm pretty sure that it's the same as a delco the S (start) term is the one you want the other I is short for ignition and not used it was a momentary supply for the coil on some things

Here's the line up for the wiring:

Ignition switch lead to S terminal
Ignition lead to I terminal - only use this if the original relay used it as well, if not then don't use it.
