I made one for my bike much like edgeofinsanity. I started taking pictures, but it was slowing me down and I just finished it and installed it. But I had bought some metal from local hardware supply, but I didn't like how flimsy it was. I had an old fender off my truck in backyard (got dented and I replaced with a new one) and I cut the rectangle piece out of that. Super strong. Then painted orange (my bike is orange). I can take after pix, but I never finished during pix. I have a few if anyone is interested, but I didn't take pix during whole process.

Nice work on modding the mount! I have my upright, and I keep bumping into it with my boot on mount/dismount.

Here's some shots of my version. Figured I'd wrap the edges to mimic the curve of the fender. All the bits were floating around the shop. Bent the 1/8" aluminum backer plate in the vise with a chunk of 2" round stock as a 'die'. The standoff started as a 2" x .250" angle that had most of one leg cut off. Mig welded the standoff to the backer plate after drilling and tapping the stand off for 1/4-20 bolts. I'm not a big fan of the stainless acorn nuts holding the plate on (doesn't look 'sleek' with them), will probable round the bolts and put the acorns on the inside to smooth the profile. I made a 'cushion' out of a sheet of roofing rubber so the paint doesn't get buggered by the aluminum. If I like it once I see it outside I'll take it back apart and paint it satin black so it blends in.

I have about an hour wrapped up in this project. Only complaint is the plate is laid down so far that the rear lamp doesn't illuminate it. I'm not sure what a simple fix would be...
