2nd conversion

I currently have an 05 883/1200 conversion with the SE stuff and 497 cams with stock 05 883 heads. Have access to a set of 05 1200 heads(black highlighted fins) for very cheap.

I love the look of the black engine and highlighted fins of the factory 1200s. I'm considering buying a set of stock 1200 highlighted jugs and 1200 pistons to use with the heads. The stock pistons I believe are 9.7:1 CR. Would like higher. there is an SE piston (22711-04) that is 10.5:1. Would those workwith a .497 cam and the stock 05 1200 heads.

I am considering sending the heads to NRHS for a stage 1.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes these would work.

I am going to be installing the .497's this winter and I'm already at 11:1

I'm not sure which pistons to use. The SEs are 10.5:1 and the stockers are 9.7:1. I guess the 497s would work with the 9.7 stock pistons. I wonder how much power would be left on the table by using the stock 1200 pistons.

If your sending your heads to NRHS why not buy your pistons from them. The 05 1200 heads are extremely good heads. Since this is your 2nd conversion I would suggest going stage 2 on the heads now and maybe preempt the 3rd conversion. The stage 2 will cost a couple hundred more but you'll already be tore down and they will already have your heads.
