Thinking of adding a bike, what do you think.
Ok, I know you don't want to hear it, but I am thinking of adding a Dyna Superglide to my lonely 1200N. I want a slightly bigger ride for longer trips. I am not that fond of the Softtail and do not want to go full load. Anyway, there are several 07' models around in both black and pewter, what do you guys/gals think I should pay for a left over model? They seem willing to deal on these but I have no reference as to invoice prices, etc. What do you think would be a fair offer?
Thanks, CB

I was also thinking the same thing.
On the HD test ride days, I tried
an FXDC a few times and really
liked it. My outings on the Sporty
are getting longer and longer.
Alas… I already have two scoots
in the garage… the Sporty and a
Norton. Three would be pushing it
with space and the old lady who wants
me to get rid of stuff.
If you have the money, space and
no old lady to convince, I say do it.
Dynas keep a better value than Sportys.
If you could find a new ’07 FXD
for 11 grand or so, I believe that would be a really
great deal. Add two to three more grand for an FXDC.
Good luck and let us know how it plays out.

My only problem with owning a late-model Sporty (rubbermount) and a Dyna is that they're damn similar.
I guess at least the N has a crappy suspension and small tank so it's a little more different from a Dyna than say a 1200R or even 1200L/1200C with the bigger tank, but still.
I just added a third bike to the garage, and though I was toying with a V-twin sport bike I went for a Sport Tourer... different enough from the other two, but not crazy different.
I also considered the Dyna, but I just couldn't justify it, too similar to what we already had.
I guess what I'm saying is, before you make up your mind, go a little crazy, shop some stuff you didn't think you'd otherwise shop and make sure you're not overlooking something. Then if you still want an FXD too, go for it.

The 08's are going for $11995 MSRP bone stock. A left over 07 should be at least $1K less. Not many bone stock bikes in the stealers though. Price up the add ons accordingly I guess.

Hi Kev…
Your advice to look around at other rides is valid.
Yes, they are similar… but the FXD or DC may just be the
slightly heavier, better sitting highway ride that the guy
is looking for. The DYNA is a bigger brother to the Sporty
more than a little brother to an FLH. If you like your Sporty,
an upgrade would include a good long look at the Dyna.
Just my 2 cents worth. And… if my advice was as good
as yours, I’d be charging at least a nickel and a cold beer.

Personally if I HAD to stay air-cooled for a big-twin, I'd give a serious look at the Victory line. Otherwise I'd opt for the V-Rod as a bigger road machine.
The Moto-Guzzi Griso is also a serious machine for serious riding.

If it is a bone stock Dyna Super Glide (not Custom), I would go in at $11k. The 2007 vivid Black FXD has an MSRP of $12,395.
Since this bike isn't black, I would be prepared to go up to $11,400. I wouldn't pay frieght. I wouldn't pay set-up.
Who knows? You might be able to swing a mean deal.

Gotta agree w/ Kev on the similar thing....
Look outside the box at some other stuff too!!
Grab a Cycle World and look around at some of the touring stuff out there. Lot's to choose from..
