Ever flipped bars over, install Buell headlight?
I just got my 883R and want to do a little cafe styling on it. I noticed on a Bonneville Salt Flat site that some guys flipped the bars upside down. It looks cool and is there any negitive concerns with doing this?
Has anyone installed a Buell 7" headlight on their sporty?
Lastly, has anyone "home-built" a pair of rear sets for their bike?

ya can't flip ya bars because the dimples for your wiring would then be on top...
I have some drawings for rearsets around here someplace

You can fudge the wires to come out on top the bars. I've done that with stock bars and low rise drag bars from J&P. I can't believe I didn’t take a picture of that. Looks a little funny but OK, the angle seems a little wrong for your wrists and I would not recommend riding like that for long. I lasted a couple of weeks and then put my club-man bars back on.

Thanks guys. I was thinking about the Clubmans, they look great. Any experience with clip-ons? Im guessing with either one of these the shift/brake controls would almost have to move back.

I used to ride with my clubman bars and mid controls. Rear sets were/are a high dollar item at something like $500 +. I remember my left foot on the mid position (so I could shift) and the right foot on the passenger peg (hardly ever used the rear brake). Not a bad way to ride, certainly better than stock bar position or… “forward controls” (forgive me, did I say that blasphemy).

1200 Cafe
These are the rearsets I made out of some bar stock aluminum, a drill, a bandsaw and a file. They could be better, my next step is to add some bronze pivot bushings. They were pretty easy to make. The next pic is my bike when I had it cafe'd. It has Magura clip-ons. I wasn't too thrilled with the riding position, it put a lot of pressure on my wrists. My seat was a little too high though. My new seat I'm making drops me down a bit and my wrists don't feel as uncomfortable.

Hey tobiism them homemade sets look cool!
kursed56, if you don't want to make your own rear sets, chainsickle makes an inexpensive set I've been real happy with.
Check out the Tommaselli's on my "Clip-on" thread, http://www.xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10296
they were a real deal $$. There is a lot of adjustablity with these.

Marco, do you happen to have a website address for the chainsickle parts? I was checking a set of the clip ons that are on ebay, they look nice.
tobiism, the bike looks great and the rear sets looks great on there. It doesnt look to complicated to build a set, nice work.

Hey Edman: are you still interested in clip-ons. I have still in my possession a set of 3/4 in. Tommaselli's I bought in the early 80's (but never mounted). They are not the adjustable type. If you are interested, let me know. I can provide photos if you wish.

forward controls

I have heard mids referred to as sit up & beg, had a beagle that used to assume that posture...it is like a sporty rider with mids, however forward controls to me make the rider look somewhat like a "blow up doll."
