Default Diagnostic Trouble Code U1097

What's the worst that can happen if I keep riding with this DTC? The only problem I've noticed is that the speedometer does not return to zero, it always stops at 5mph. The speedo is otherwise dead nuts accurate when compared to a GPS unit and a 5-mile speedometer test area.

Did you try clearing the code?
Does it come back?

It's back so I'm guessing it's a current code. Still runs fine, my only worry with this code is if it could leave me stranded?

U1097 indicates a loss of speedometer serial data to the ecm. Your speedo may be jacked, but I doubt it's something that will leave you stranded.
