As a former HD tech, you won't often find me on the "OEM" bandwagon, but insofar as the batteries are concerned...the coupla dollars ya might save with an aftermarket battery just isn't worth it....as said previously....hard to beat the OEM batteries...
That having been said, I bought my last battery at Tractor Supply a coupla years ago...no problems with it so far....

I bought the sealed battery from Batteries Plus and it lasted over three years. I don't like vented batteries. Think it cost like 80 bucks or so.

If you have the security system, whatever battery you buy, get a tender for it. My original battery lasted barely one year - the new one (another OEM one) is doing great at age 3+.

The stock battery on an 06 doesn't weigh 7 lbs.

You're right, it doesn't weigh 7 lbs., it's more like 8 or 9 lbs. The Shorai weighs 2.12 pounds.
Losing 6 - 7 pounds of weight off of your bike is significant.
From the Shorai Website - "Our LFX Standard recommendation is the best overall pick for most applications, and has been selected to give strong cranking performance and long lifespan. This LFX battery is 7.20 Lbs. lighter than the lead-acid YTX14L-BS-."
I didn't weigh the Shorai Battery, but it is extremely light.
From the Yuasa Website - "Battery Family: Maintenance Free
Battery Type: YTX14L-BS
Voltage: 12
Capacity: 12
Dimensions: 6" x 3.4375" x 5.75"
Weight: 8.1 lbs.
Metric Dimensions: 150mm x 87mm x 145mm
Metric Weight: 3.7 kg
Polarity:
Acid Volume: 0.69
Amps: 1.4
C.C.A.: 200
I assume Yuasa's weight is pre-acid, thus bumping the weight up once it's filled.

As a point of interest, I still have my stock HD battery sitting in the garage, so I weighed it. It came in at almost 12 pounds. If the Shorai does in fact weigh only 2.12 pounds, that's a weight savings of over NINE POUNDS!

Where did you get an HD battery for $80.00? I just paid $129.00 plus tax for a new one for mine.
